I think these laws would need a bit of reworking here and there. Mainly the fines. What normal person has 500 gold?

That is not the case anymore so I think it could be adjusted. Maybe some more fines and/or tribunals and of the like instead of crippling/death penalties dominating the lawbook?

the problem is the laws need to be about stuff like that, because throwing people in jail isn't really a good sentence because
1. there's no real dungeon on the map
2. it makes people pissy as fuck.
3. it'd have to be way too mild, or people would just leave the server. "you killed someone? you get 10 minutes in jail, you criminal bastard!"

and besides, if we have harsh laws maybe people'll mind to make characters who arent super-edgy and kills every npc that they come across.

Did I accidentally imply that all the laws would need to be pussified?

I was implying that not every single punishment needs to result in death or an insane fine. Or something of the like.

ICly times have changed, it seems. Since the fall of the Church of Tyr, lots of closet-heretics have outed themselves and have been accepted into Talibar's more modern, open-minded society.

Certainly Talibar needs some sort of constitution, in the political and legal aspect it seems like it's heavily reliant on ancient Hammurabi Code-like laws that would really have no place to be on a capitalistic, bureaucratic society, specially since their religion preaches of peace and justice.
