Slipknot
Post an Album Slipknot_-_Slipknot2
Quote :
Slipknot is the debut album by American heavy metal band Slipknot. It was released on June 29, 1999 through Roadrunner Records, after a demo containing a few of the songs had been released in 1998, and was reissued in December 1999 with a slightly altered track listing and mastering, as a result of lawsuit. It was the first release by the band to be produced by Ross Robinson, who sought to refine Slipknot's sound rather than alter the group's musical direction.

The album spans many genres, but is generally noted for its extensive percussion and overall heavy sound. Slipknot was well received by fans and critics alike and was responsible for bringing Slipknot a large increase in popularity. The album peaked at number 51 on the Billboard 200, and has gone on to become certified double platinum in the United States, making it the band's best selling album.

St. Anger
Post an Album Aaaaaaastanger

Quote :
St. Anger is the eighth studio album by American heavy metal band Metallica. Released on June 5, 2003, the album marks the longest timespan between studio albums from Metallica, with nearly six years between the release of ReLoad and St. Anger.

It is the first Metallica studio album to receive a Parental Advisory label. St. Anger debuted at the top of sales charts in 30 countries, including the United States Billboard 200. Upon the release of the album, St. Anger met mixed critical reviews. In 2004, the lead single from the album, "St. Anger", won a Grammy Award for "Best Metal Performance". The album has also sold over 2 million copies in the US alone and was certified 2x Platinum by the RIAA.

St. Anger is the first Metallica album since their third studio release, Master of Puppets, that does not feature long-time bassist Jason Newsted. Newsted left the band prior to the initial sessions for the album. Recording of the album initially started on April 24, 2001, but was postponed indefinitely when rhythm guitarist and singer James Hetfield entered rehab for "alcoholism and other addictions."

Post an Album Rammstein_-_V%C3%B6lkerball

Quote :
Völkerball (German for "Dodgeball", lit. "Peoples' ball") is the German Neue Deutsche Härte band Rammstein's live album/DVD set. It was released on November 17, 2006 in Europe, December 19, 2006 in Canada, and on September 18, 2007 in the U.S. The album was advertised within media by the Ich will live video featured on the DVD and Mann gegen Mann single.

The standard edition-packaging comes in both CD-sized and DVD-sized formats. The special edition features two DVDs and one CD. The extra DVD comes with the documentary 'Anakonda Im Netz' and the 'Making Of Reise, Reise album'. The limited edition has two DVDs, two CDs and a photobook.

Völkerball is the German name for the game of dodge ball. Literally it means Peoples' Ball. One could also think that the combination of the word Ball, being a dancing event like English ball or prom, in connection with Peoples and relating to the musical act Rammstein, means Dancing/Musical event of (all) peoples.

Post an Album Vampire-weekend
Quote :
Vampire Weekend is the debut album by American indie rock band Vampire Weekend, released January 2008 on XL Recordings. The album was produced by band member Rostam Batmanglij, with mixing assistance from Jeff Curtin and Shane Stoneback.

In the United States, the album sold over 27,000 copies in the first week of its release, debuting at number 17 on the Billboard 200. In the album's 11th week in the UK chart, it peaked at number 15. The album also reached number 37 in Australia.

The first single, "Mansard Roof", was released on October 28, 2007. The second single, "A-Punk", was released in early 2008. The album was named as the 5th best album of 2008 by Time, and as the 56th Best Album of the Decade by Rolling Stone.

The album was recorded in a variety of environments including; a basement where there was "a good set up for recording drums"; a barn; the apartments of two band members and Tree Fort studio in Brooklyn. The locations bore an effect on the sound that was produced, demonstrated by a session recorded early in 2007 at a barn, which resulted in "really echoey drums".

In October 2007, the lead singer Ezra Koenig, said that the band had "some of the tracks [...] for a long time", so they were aware of how the album would sound but that it was "just a matter of tightening it up and remixing it a little". Koenig also said that the band was "really excited" and "psyched" about two songs in particular, which were recorded around September 2007, called "I Stand Corrected" and "M79".

Nice to see people participating, definitely going to check out these albums-- besides St. Anger, of course, that's already one of my absolute favorites. ;3

Post an Album StealThisAlbum
Quote :

This album was released shortly after a collection of medium-quality MP3s found its way onto the Internet under the unofficial name Toxicity II, a year after the release of the group's multi-platinum record, Toxicity. The band issued a statement expressing their disappointment that their fans were hearing unfinished material, and released the finished versions of the leaked material. Most, but not all tracks from the original leak (e.g. "Cherry") made it onto Steal This Album!, and three new tracks such as "Roulette" were also added. Many song titles, lyrics, and melodies were changed, making the new album significantly different from the unfinished product.

Though often reported in the media as being a collection of B-sides and outtakes, the band insists that the Steal This Album! material is of the same quality as the tracks which made it onto Toxicity. Vocalist Serj Tankian has said that the songs were left out of Toxicity "because they didn't fit the overall continuity of the album"

Post an Album System_of_a_down

Quote :
System of a Down is the debut album by American rock band System of a Down, first released in 1998. The album was certified gold by the RIAA on February 2, 2000. Two years later, after the success of Toxicity, it was certified platinum.

The cover artwork is from an anti-fascist, World War II-era poster designed by the artist John Heartfield for the Communist Party of Germany, which was contemporary with and directly against the Third Reich. The text in the original poster is: "5 fingers has a hand! With these 5 grab the enemy!" This slogan inspired part of the text contained in the back of the System of a Down album: "The hand has five fingers, capable and powerful, with the ability to destroy as well as create". Later, it is written in bold letters: "Open your eyes, open your mouths, close your hands and make a fist".

Old? Alright...

Post an Album In-an-aeroplane

Quote :
In the Aeroplane over the Sea is the critically acclaimed second studio album by American indie rock band Neutral Milk Hotel, released in the United States on February 10, 1998 on Merge Records. The album was released in the United Kingdom in May 1998 on Blue Rose Records.

Jeff Mangum moved from Athens, Georgia to Denver, Colorado to prepare the bulk of the album's material with producer Robert Schneider, this time at Schneider's newly-created Pet Sounds Studio at the home of Jim McIntyre.

The album's cover was a collaboration between Mangum and R.E.M.'s staff designer, Chris Bilheimer. The general design reflects the taste of Mangum: Bryan Poole said that "[Mangum] was always into that old-timey, magic, semi-circus, turn-of-the-century, penny arcade kind of imagery." One particular piece Mangum showed to Bilheimer was an old European postcard with an image of people bathing at a resort, which was then cropped and altered for the cover. Bilheimer also designed a broadsheet-style lyrics sheet for the album, and inadvertently titled "Holland, 1945" in the process; Jeff wanted to use either "Holland" or "1945" for the song, and Bilheimer suggested he use both.

The album continues to sell well, and was the sixth-best-selling vinyl album in 2008.
