Specialized skills Archery | | | | | | | | | | The bow is sacred for Merkitans. They treat bows like it’s one of their children. Alendir is no exception and has trained since he was just a youngling. Swordsmanship | | | | | | | | | | Sometimes during battles you get in close quarter combat. Knowing how to handle a sword is ideal. Tracking | | | | | | | | | | Merkitans hunt their food and are herders. They can track a lost sheep during rain and are master trackers.
Backstory Born in The Wastes, raised in a Merkitan tribe, Alendir was the third son of Stormshadow. His father, the leader of the tribe, wanted his sons to become strong men. They were put through various tests, as in walking out into a pond during the winter to resist and suppress the body’s complaints about the freezing water. These tests tested the limits of the human body and toughened the sons. He became a hunter at the age of fifteen, hunting for food and prey with the fellow tribesmen. Traditionally the leader’s son, if a hunter, got an eagle and so did Alendir. He used it extensively for hunting and tracking as he and it grew up. This continued for several years, until he was twenty-three years old. He asked for his father permission to leave the tribe and explore the world and he was granted such. Alendir went west, over the mountains to Talibar. It was a hard journey but living on the fields of his homeland, he was used to the shifting climates.
After a year of travel and search he got to the Surnan woods one afternoon and he made his ways through. As he reached the outskirts he heard loud growling in a seeming scuffle. He ran towards the direction of the sounds, seeing a werewolf bearing down on a hooded man.The hooded man fires a bolt straight into a werewolf’s gut. The werewolf roared savagely and bashed the man aside, the man flew to the right. A tree branch broke, falling in front of the werewolf, narrowly missing it. The werewolf turned tail and ran, seemingly towards Alendir. He dove right and ran as fast as he possibly could and the werewolf ran off, it must have missed him. Alendir returned to where the fight broke out and he noticed a trail of blood, leading off into the forest. He followed the trail with caution but it stopped dead at the side of a lake. He grunted and looked up towards Surna. Alendir made a decision and jogged towards the city.
Personality When Alendir makes a promise he will keep it, no matter what. He is a man of honor and doesn't approve of thieves, criminals and murderers. He helps people he trusts and knows and he treats enemies without mercy. He'd rather have the enemy have a swift dead then to be locked up in jail. Due to the harsh conditions in The Wastes he trusts humans more then other races.
