As the black forest recedes, leaving behind dead, but natural-looking, trees, few understand the reasons for why. Apparently, a small team of champions from Surna entered the dangerous Black Woods, confronting whatever forces lie there. More amazing still, all but one returned alive. Alyssa Munroe allegedly gave her life to save the group from overwhelming forces. The leader of those forces, identified as the "Shadowlord", is no more.
Threats still remain, however. The fractured "Northern Force" has vanished, though the Shades and other exotic creatures remain. Additionally, the old fauna of Surna's woods, including the more dangerous specimens, have begun reappearing. "Witchers", as they are called, are in high demand.
With the danger mostly gone, trade has slowly resumed in Surna. The economy has already shown signs of recovery, though food and water shortages still plague the town, as the river remains toxic. With the death of the forest, Surna's forest industry may never recover. | |
