Aeria, the mortal realm, is a flat plane and therefore doesn't rotate in all the ways that Earth does, ergo, the North is not always the farthest from the sun, which is actually a window to Kossuth's realm, not a celestial body. Alongside that, The Wastes is not famous for cold weather. Gale, the land of monsters and the biggest land mass in The Wastes, is however famous for its cold climate.
