"We stood stood there by the grave we had dug up, looking for valuables. We were completely alone in the graveyard, the moon and our lanters as the only sources of light, the silent, gentle noises of the forest and a light breeze our only company. Suddenly, the breeze died down and the noises went silent; a cyan glow creeping closer to us. As we looked up from the grave, we saw a tall woman in strange armor, brandishing a large two handed sword, her wings swaying despite the lack of wind. We stood silently, frozen with fear and awe as we gazed upon the majestetic but frightening figure. As the being eyed us, I was sure I could feel a thousand eyes studying me at the same time. Before I had time to react, the figure lift its blade and cleaved it at my partner who fell dead on the ground in a heartbeat. I had so many feelings rushing through me, I wanted to yell but I couldn't for I was too struck with fear. The figure stared at me again, lowered its blade and spoke to me in an echoing, distant voice. 'Thy accomplice has been slain for his crimes against the dead. We have seen your souls and yours is not yet tainted, son of Prim. Restore the grave and create a similiar one to the son of Dirgrad and be spared the wrath of the souls." Then it leaned closer to my dead friend, collected his soul and disappeared with it through a stone gate into an abyss. The gate turned to dust as I refilled the grave we were robbing."

Spoiler:
"Souls of the dying that drift to the Spirit Realm to wait for a Psychopomp to come retrieve them may resist from time to time. A bond that binds them to the physical world, something to cause them to not wish to leave with us. We cannot allow harm to come to the soul of a being, thus they are left to drift. Souls left wandering will become angered, yearning for release, yet unable to leave. They may slip through the cracks and manifest as vengeful spirits in the realm of the living. These spirits could upset the realms. We are their harbinger, sent to aid the Lost Ones to find peace and release, to see that the wrath of the souls will not harm the realms. We are their ambassador, voice of the Lost Ones between the worlds."

[Soulblade] "Faintly glowing cyan runes adorn the flat sides of the large, two-handed sword. Despite it's heavy appearance, it would seem to be relatively light. The blade consists of Vigil's own energy, and as thus, can easily cleave through a number of substances.
[Harbinger's Guard] "Brown armor with runes and silver linings decorate what makes Vigil's body. The metal seems to be extremely resistant to any sort of blow struck against it.

Spoiler:
Credits: Pat and Munroe for helping to pick out mistakes, file out flaws and generally helping to create this character.
Notices: This character is very experimental since it's my first special character, as far as I know the first Psychopomp character being played out and a very powerful character at that. I'm looking for feedback for the character due to my inexperience with such event characters and assistance should it be required. I'm aware that this character will most likely have very limited uses and roles in roleplay scenarios and might or might not make many appearances in the server outside of larger events in which the character has been invited to. The character is intended to remedy the lack of anything to do for newer characters, and to achieve that I will try to create mini-events for the characters in questions who wish to partake in them. Hopefully admins will offer me a hand when planning these scenarios, especially considering the possible rewards that these tasks could yield. The character will not be used to affect any of the players' characters or meddle with IC affairs unless agreed in advance with the players and/or admins in question.

I've been wanting to see someone RP a Psychopomp for a while now, hope this goes well for you.

Unless this is for some kind of event I don't really see any reason at all for this to even exist.

Could you have thought of a worse name.

Seriously? Come on.
And the name "Psychopomp" isn't something I made up. Look it up in Kelemvor's thread.

I blame Pat for the name Psychopomp, anyway, I see some use for this character, it could be giving people tasks from Kelemvor himself. Now that'd be cool.

Psychopomps (from the Greek word ψυχοπομπός (psychopompos), literally meaning the "guide of souls") are creatures, spirits, angels, or deities in many religions whose responsibility is to escort newly deceased souls to the afterlife. Their role is not to judge the deceased, but simply provide safe passage. Frequently depicted on funerary art, psychopomps have been associated at different times and in different cultures with horses, Whip-poor-wills, ravens, dogs, crows, owls, sparrows, cuckoos, and harts.

Then why is this character a scantily clad proverbial angel of death and combat.
a psychopomp can take on any form that it wants, to appear to a mortal; I also made the point of appearance to Markka. Also, an independent, neutral deity of death would need powerful servants in order to remain independent from anyone that would want power over death(pretty much every god ever)

I can see how this could possibly contribute to this supposed event it's been invited into, but I don't see how it could create mini-quests that the 'softer' characters could partake in.

one thing a psychopomp will never do is target mortals directly or even very indirectly. What this character will be doing is offering quests that fulfill the so-called 'quotas' of the lost souls, allowing them to let go of their connection to this world and come along with Vigil. Since Kelemvor must keep a decidedly neutral balance, he also won't be quick to act against any gods. Except perhaps Shar, considering that whole debacle with the Avatar of Shar. *Cough*harvesting souls for power*cough*

And as thus, Vigil will likely act against Sharites or entities that somehow threaten the souls.
