Age: 23 Gender: Female Race: Human Birthplace: Inferia
Traits/Skills:
Alchemy A practice as ancient as magic, perhaps even more so, alchemy uses physical ingredients, rather than intangible energy, to benefit (or harm) others. Potions have the advantage of being able to affect the body directly, unlike magic, but most also have debilitating side-effects. {||||||} Sylvia is a novice-level alchemist. She takes lessons from William Warthrop.
Dragon Blood Sylvia has dragon blood in her ancestry.
Marked A portion of Sylvia's soul is trapped inside the Nine Hells, making her a gateway into the material world. Outside of Inferia, where the boundaries between Hell and Aeria are thicker, Sylvia is only susceptible if her will is utterly exhausted.
Magical Potency Though most everyone can access magic if they really want to, some people's souls are strongly connected to it. This measures the strength of that connection. {||||||} Sylvia is pretty much as potent in magic as one can possibly be. Her enormous power makes her easily detectable, and unfortunately, a favored target.
Scrying Magic The art of seeing the unseen. Scrying allows one to "project" or extend their awareness.
Sylvia can see places vastly distant, with little time and effort. Sylvia can see through most illusions.
Lightning Magic Using magic to conjure up electrical energy, or create it spontaneously.
Offense: Sylvia can create a powerful bolt a fraction of the strength of a lightning strike, or "tase" an enemy for several seconds. The former can stun and even kill weaker opponents, while the latter primarily stuns. Defense: Sylvia's shield magnetically directs any metallic objects away from her, in addition to electrocuting anyone that touches it.
Wind Magic Using telekinetic magic to manipulate airflow.
Sylvia can generate a large gust of wind, enough to knock someone down if caught off guard.
Tempest Magic (Level 1/10) Sylvia can conjure small Arcane Tempests, which can only affect one person at a time.
Sylvia was born in Incendis, the capital of Inferia. The city was heavily rebuilt and renamed in honor of the first Demonologist.
Despite its size and heavy amounts of security, Incendis was not overlooked by Inferia's notorious Demon population. At 8 years old, Sylvia was Marked.
The Parietis would watch her constantly. Her sleep was filled with terrible nightmares. Her own parents forsook her, out of hopelessness. To a young girl, this life was a prison, one she had to escape from.
One day, Sylvia waited for the Parietis to change shifts (she had memorized their pattern), and ran out into the cold.
Her survival was miraculous. Inferia had just come out of a harsh winter, so the cold was not fatal. Still, it was there, and she had little protection against it. She came upon a small town not far from Incendis, where she stumbled into a tavern seeking warmth. She was thrown out, with a muttered command to go home.
As it happened, a skilled mage was tying his horse outside this very inn. While this would seem odd anywhere else, mages in Inferia were quite common, and lived and worked among common folk. This mage in particular sensed great potential within Sylvia.
After learning of her past (which was no easy task for either of them) the mage took Sylvia under his wing. Sylvia was more or less raised by the mage, who tried to teach her to control her abilities. But his lessons never seemed to take. The mage was puzzled.
The reason, of course, was that Sylvia still suffered nightly attacks from Demons trying to possess her. They consumed her memories, her lessons, her personality. She was forever changed by the scars the Demons left. Her sacred field was clawed and torn, to try and make room for a Demon's.
As soon as Sylvia's mentor realized this terrible truth, he summoned Sylvia. "There is only one way to survive," he said. "You must flee Inferia, and never return."
It pained the mage to see Sylvia go, but he hoped she would remember his words, and live by them.
By this time, Sylvia was 17. Nearly ten years she had spent with the mage. Though the mage had prepared her greatly for the journey out of Inferia, it was still difficult. The days were filled with walking through the bitter cold, the nights filled with painful dreams. Each day a little bit more of her was missing. Soon, she forgot why she was even traveling. She just had to get out of the cold. She had to head east...
Sylvia resided in Talibar for five years. Her life was uneventful, spent in odd jobs and slums, barely staying alive. Her abilities surfaced sporadically, but she had no control over them. More often than not, she hurt herself and those around her. Interested in alchemy, she took a job offer by William Warthrop, becoming his apprentice. She had dabbled in this before, but nowhere near as extensively as with Warthrop. Together, they made several breakthroughs in alchemy, which earned them a pitiful amount of recognition.
Sylvia soon caught the attention of the Archivists of Light, more for her magical potential than anything else. The Archivists also recognized the incredible danger of her Sacred Field being so unstable, and so Flint Libentaro set about fixing it. The process was slow and arduous, but Flint was successful in all but completely restoring it, though Sylvia remains unchangeably Marked. A change took hold of Sylvia; as her Sacred Field became restored a personality began to form, shaped by her experiences in Surna. No longer the shy, weak-willed girl she started as, Sylvia grows more confident each passing day.
Her education began not long after her Sacred Field was fixed, and properly analyzed. Sylvia demonstrated remarkable talent in magic, just as the Archivists had predicted.
It wasn't long before a great magical accident led most of Surna to be transported to Ara'ki, far from their old dwelling in Talibar. This uprooting hardly affected Sylvia, who spent much of her time in the Archivists' realm. Talibar, and Surna, was less her home than that wondrous place.
Surna had escaped Occitan's wrath, and Sylornath's vengeful conquest, but their safe haven in Ara'ki couldn't last forever. Many despaired, not knowing what was going on in the outside world and being powerless to affect any of it. If Sylornath conquered all the lands of the East, Ara'ki, Kerodil, and eventually even the Everrain Isles would fall.
Sylvia had an idea, inspired by William, who asked her to deliver a message for him to Exemplar. The Archivists' realm could be linked between places due to its interdimensional nature, so it could connect Ara'ki and theo utside lands by providing a mail service. Sylvia set to work immediately.
(To be continued)
Alignment: Lawful Neutral This time will be the most important in defining Sylvia's alignment.

I don't think she has anything in common with Flower besides the magic abilities tied to emotions, which I came up with on my own way back when Sylvia was first created sometime in 2009.

Obligatory TES faggotry for the sake of all things Pat.
Also, if I'm not mistaken a messed up sacred field would be more likely to bring about negative effects in terms of magic use as opposed to positive, if not physical and mental effects as well.

Yes to all of the above. She couldn't even use magic until it got fixed, plus she had a plethora of mental difficulties coupled with physical weakness. Now it's pretty much fixed, so she can access her full potential.
