Biography:
- Spoiler:
Deven Cakebread was born into a poor family in a small hamlet named Thirodin which was located along the Sword Coast. He was an only child, he spent most of his early childhood getting bullied because of how poor his family was. One day in his 12th year he decided to ask his father why they were so poor which ended in him getting beaten with a small stick for asking a stupid question. The next day, one of the bullies asked him why he was so poor during their sessions. Cakebread was fed up with all the bullying, just because his family was poorer and had to use lesser luxuries compared to other people. The emotional and physical pain that manifested over the years surged through him, Deven retaliated for all the bullying, he punched the bully back and reached for an appropriate tool. He managed to grab a small sturdy stick and beat the the bullies a immense amount until a couple of adults stopped him. One of the adults was K'chorne Ostky, a rich noble of some renown for his corn farms. The noble brought Deven to his parents and told them about the situation, they were very furious.
Before Deven's Dad could punish him for beating those bullies up really well, K'chorne asked if he could take custody of Deven to train him into a Bullyblade [Hired Blade]. He offered a very big compensation for Deven which his parents accepted once they heard. K'chorne then brought Deven to his keep and had him trained by his veteran Bullyblades. For the next couple of years Deven was trained for a good majority of the day in Swordsmanship and how to kill a man. During those years they taught him about the deity Tyr, the god of justice. They implanted false pretenses that by serving K'chorne to his very exact word undoubtely that he would make Tyr proud of him.
Over the years Deven became one of the best Bullyblades K'chorne had ever forged. Deven's Cakebread traumatized childhood filled him belief that he would serve justice no matter what and that by being K'chorne's Bullyblade he would be doing that. Deven was undoubting, followed orders down to the exact word and did not fail his master. Though toward his 26year, Deven's corrupted belief in Tyr shattered. In one of his tasks, he was sent to Surna to silence a corn merchant who refused to be assimilated by K'chorne.
"WAIT DON'T KILL ME!", the merchant man shrieked as Deven pushed him down to the floor. "By Tyr, god of justice, justice will be served and I will serve it well." Deven says in response, pinning him down with his right leg while lineing his longsword above to strike.
"But what would you accomplish by killing a law abiding follower of Tyr? Surely you know killing an innocent man is not justice!" "Lord K'chorne Ostky wills it and his will is the word of Tyr conduited through man!", Deven says ;eaning his back backwards to prepare his strike The merchant reaches around, he finds a gold leafed book and puts it in front of himself, hoping to protect himself.
Deven sends down his longsword strike, he looks down to see it get stuck in the Gold leafed book's binding. "Bullyblade, I don't know what you have been taught but Tyr only lets his word be conduited by his priests and true servants and followers." The merchant smartly says. Deven took the book off his sword and looked at it, a bible of the teaching of Tyr. He opened it and read a few pages, seeing it scripted entirely different than the book he had in his training.
Deven apologized and ran off with the book, he later spend a couple days in Surna in a tavern reading it, studying and analyzing his old teachings compared to this one. He came to the conclusion that K'chorne lied and used him to do horrible evil abominable things. He spent the night thinking about all the task he completed. K'chorne came to Surna to check on the task he gave to Deven, he stayed in a private home he had in the city. Deven went to that house, under the guise to report of his task.
He went into the study of the house, where K'chorne, his veteran most bullyblade and an odd magician was present. "So what is the condition of the task I gave you? Did you complete it like you always do?" K'chorne asked as he looked up from his desk full of scrolls of somekind. "Actually i failed it, failed it quite well, and now i have one question about you." "Failed? How in the-Failed?You failed a simple task which you have done so many times before?" K'chorne retorted, with a rather afraid and angered look. "You've lied to me, along with your men, why would you teach me false lessons about Tyr, the god of justice when you are obviously a servant of corruption and deceit?" "Oh, thats what I had to do to make you my best Bullyblade simply, to get you motivated and set on course to be the best personal blade ever." K'chorne said while making a gesture to his veteran bullyblade.
The Bullyblade unholstered his sword and rushed to attack Deven. Deven knew who this Bullyblade was very well and his behavior during fights, his main moves and weaknesses. With the help of many training sessons, Deven exploited the weaknesses the man had. The duel was rather quick, ending in a fast clean thrust of a blade into the man's stomach.
K'chorne sighed as the Veteran Bullyblade fell to the floor, bleeding all over the carpet. Deven wiped his sword and moved over to the windows, looking towards the city.
K'chorne made another gesture to the magician and Deven asked a question. "So K'chorne, you spent many years and coin just to make me the perfect servant and exact opposite model follower of a Tyr?For what? For corn? "Now i regret sending you to take that Tyr believing Corn merchant, now you've forced me to turn to my backup plan." The magician made some gestures with his hand, forming a spell of some kind and shot it towards Deven. Deven froze, his body became inmoblie.
The magician took a scroll from the desk and activated it, sending a small wisp of arcane energy to Deven's head. Deven arched back, his head filling with splitting pain. "By Tyr, I will kill you K'chorne to restablish the balance of justice which you have destroyed!"
"Hm, thats rather odd, the spell should have made his whole mind change...I think i know the problem" The magician said as he looks down to the used scroll. "Well fix it and hurry up with it, I want to keep Cakebread alive and Undoubting!" K'chorne yelped hearing the magician's statement.
The mage starts to gesture his hands, forming a flame in his hands which turns into a fireball. "Alright this should get the spell to work." "What? But that will ruin my study! You'll kill him and ruin my pl-
The mage sends the fireball towards Deven, it veers off course because his concentration was broken by K'chorne. It lands towards the corner of the study, it explodes and its big gulf of flame grows and nearly engulfs Deven before its air displacement pushes him violently out the window.
- Spoiler:
An Odd explosion sound is heard down from the block, a man is bursts through a window of a Merchant man's house. The man flys through the air for a while, his clothes in flames. The man starts to feel gravity's effect now, his trajectory swoops downwards to a cart full of crates. "CRASH", He crashes onto the boxes, sounds of wooding breaking and splitting, the dull sound of bone cracking is heard.
I feel pain....lots of it, the dull kind. "My back...how the-did my nemesis do this or rather- Wait why does the town look different, the towers and landmarks, the craftsmanship of the buildings are not the ones of Cornbury..." I think, as I look around to the towering buildings near me. I try to get up, trying to pull my self off from the crates. I see townspeople staring at me, who have odd clothes that I have never seen before. I manage to flop off and faceplant onto the stone ground. Even the ground seems different.
I feel pain and heat, like the kind you have when a flame touches you, I try to roll and punch out. "Why in the nine hells are you trying to punch the man whose putting the flames out on your back?" screech, A fat man with curly hair. I roll around for a bit, trying to get out what ever fire is on me, god the pain.
I painfully push my self up, looking around I find things have changed drastically or at least to what i know of. The towns people don't look like Cornbury peasants and the men in Armour don't look like the Cornbury guard at all... They have odd metal mage staffs in their hands, all of them, where in the hell am I?
I start to limp my way around looking at every little thing i can see. I accidentally bump into a big-Snake like creature, I-what the-I don't even know what to call it. "Uffh, oh my apologies." The snake man says as he gently pushs and walks around me.
I turn and stare at him, I've never seen those type of men in Thanatos, how in the- Someone else bumps in to me, he has very furry brown skin and his face is-what, I'm an Cornbury Forestmen and I-a dog head for a head?
"EY-What are doing Knave! You think its funny to stand in place and disturb people like this?"The dogman says as he walks around me in a circle assessing me. A bunch of other Dogmen start to follow him in his assessment, snarling, growling at me. I don't even know what to do...Snakemen, Dogmen? What realm am I in?
"Well Knave what do you have to say for your self? What you want to be beat up or something?" The Dogman asks, his pack of friends start to call me Knave and other insults. He pulls out a old bronze short sword and prods my chest with it, I look down to see it touch my-Tabard? Where did my Chainmail armour go? The sword starts to tear it a small cut.
I feel threatened, I feel like I'm gonna get jumped, not this again... I reach for my long-never mind my-seriously? I reach around to my back and find my staff and pull it out but it breaks into a sturdy charred stick. Well time to go for gold, I don't know whats going on and where i am but I'm gonna find out.
I grab his short sword and pull it past my left arm and I bash the back of his skull as i pull him. He falls over staggering about on the ground. The pack of friends start to growling and they draw weapons, well I hope this recent change of things didn't remove my chase legs.
I turn backwards and dash away, hoping over carts and people. I see the pack getting lost and lagged behind quite well. I turn around a corner into an alley and I-FACEPLANT WITH A SIGN, it says Surna, trading hub of the realm.
I...oh god my face hurts urgh, am I going unconscious? Yep I am, i better not have my throat slit or by Tyr I will haunt this realm.
- Spoiler:
I find my self on the battlements of a keep...Wait this is the Cornbury Guard keep, how in the... I turn around, I see my old boss walking towards my position. Not him again...God i just wanted to hang out with Emieral and Jaghati today. I inspect my uniform, odd I was just in a different town in a different realm with only my tabard on.
I find a cigar in my hand, I place it in my mouth, its lit yet it feels damp and i can barely breathe.
BOOM*
I look towards the sound and see a bright blue blinding explosion from the tavern erupt as it destroys it, but it doesn't stop growing.
Tluin...and i had just finally gotten around to asking Kitaro out...Well at least my cigar will be lit-- . . . I wake up, spazzing around on the alley ground. I'm choking on something, tluin i can't breathe. I flop around like a fish trying to get the thing out thats choking me. I get up and i run my self into a crate. Plough!*
A damp cigar pops out onto the crate, I pick it up and examine it. "For the Cornbury guardsman Deven 'Beef' Cakebread, hm some idiot must have slammed this in my throat while i was out." My head hurts, I feel a welt on my forehead, I try to think of what i was doing earlier but nothing comes to mind.
Well...maybe I'm going insane or my brain is going broken,... wait I do remember a couple of things but its all fuzzy and feels out of place.
Some loud people with clubs. A career in which Tyr would be ashamed of me. A warm bed, some food and a great idea that i can't recall. Constant fights, wounds and blood... Dead bodies and indescribable monsters... I don't remember my childhood except that it was painful and sad...
But these memories, they all feel fresh and jaded, like if they were fake or not true or even changed. Tluin, who am I? Who is this Deven Beef Cakebread? I think for a while over my situation, I don't know who I am, or where I came from. I don't recall any names of any associates.
I turn around and look to Surna, I don't know what this place is or who controls it, I don't know anything at all. I don't even have a name to go by or a reputation. I look down at the bronze short sword i snatched and the cigar. I guess i should call my self Deven Beef Cakebread for now, Cakebread the swordsman. . . . I hope i don't die before i figure out something.
- Spoiler:
I spent the next couple of years figureing out what to do with my self. I left Surna and went around to smaller towns and hamlets. I would stay a while and see if they had any problems happening The minor petty thief, sometimes a tavern drunk causing a ruckus. I occasionally find a pathetic bandit trying to impose a tax on hamlets. I dealt with them swiftly and stayed in those towns, I would be offered rewards and gifts which i would not take. During my travels between towns i would find small bands of goblins attacking caravans, I would hop in to help the caravan guards. I never gave my name when people asked.
Over those years I studied the true bible of Tyr i took, I prayed everyday for forgivness of Tyr for the horrible deeds i did under my old past. To this day i don't remember well what my past was before that alleyway. I pray that I can perhaps one day repay for the things i did.
I came back to Surna to find a familiar face, I stumbled upon a corn merchant who asked have I been praying everyday to the correct teachings of Tyr. I told him yes, everyday and will always will. I asked him who he was and he said he was just a Follower of Tyr. I'm staying in Surna to make a new life, I want to make a reputation, friends, a home, i want a good job that Tyr would be proud of me. I want to be a model follower of Tyr. I want to be a paladin of Tyr.

| No offense, but I have literally no idea what I just read.
Sausage Men? Exploding Cigars?
From what I caught, he's meant to come from the setting of Dark Espadon's Fantasy Roleplay? If that's the case, I'll stop you right there. Outside the context of speculative stories or joke characters, we don't allow characters to cross over (literally, not using the character you used elsewhere here) from other fiction, fandom, or roleplays.
Beyond that, I'm -really- not sure what to make of the rest of this. Some elaboration would be very welcome.

Beyond that, I'm -really- not sure what to make of the rest of this. Some elaboration would be very welcome. Well i was sorta heading towards Cakebread being some what confused and unsure of where he came from, he has doubts that he is from a different "Realm" and that maybe he's just has amnesia and a very odd augmented collection of memory. I was making him set up to be lost, confused, and very scared of many things. I know pulling things from other lore's is unkosher but seeing as it would make a very interesting base for memories and reaction/thought guide I decided to pitch it in. The idea that you don't know where you are and who you are exactly was kind of my thesis for his background. If the community decides its not kosher then I'll just go to my other background idea. Note: I posted that incomplete since i had to abruptly leave, was gonna touch it up more to make legit.

| Just a word of advice, as much as the two short stories add to the feeling of confusion that the character must feel, I would suggest a drier, more factual back-story. Also, the character's history past his sudden appearance in Surna, try to lay down your assertions first, then add flavor, but that's just my opinion. | |

| I think everyone can agree that there should be no DERP references whatsoever with this character, also while the surname "Cakebread" is strange, it's not totally out of the question, people do have strange last names sometimes. | |

Well basicly K'chorne wanted to make Cakebread the perfect undoubtling hired blade who won't go against his orders no matter what. K'chorne made a spell that would replace his memory with a story which would have make him easier to convert back instead of just upright bribeing him or blackmailing him. It needed a spell that would help reinforce the story and the mage accidentally made the a big ass fireball. Everything about Ashory is just a made up story by K'chorne. No universe hopping at all.

| I'd say you keep the surname, gives the character an oddity. But really you can't have a crossover character. This is an entirely different universe, a more serious one at that. | |

There is no universe hopping at all, I've completely replaced it with a memory change. All refrences to Ashory in the background is just a made up story used by K'chorne to convert Cakebread.

| This is a different criticism totally unrelated to true RP, but I think the skills may be a little high. I can safely assume you rolled for them, so I'm not blaming you personally, I just think in Olden, using DnD only really works if new characters start with low-power stats. | |

Ya, i had them rolled in Baldur's gate two, but they don't apply to anything aside from the dnd use in fights. In rp, he wouldn't be strong as a bull or anything just a well muscled man so he couldn't do any feats of strength like pushing 1000lb rocks.
