| Subject: Rayhon Oldogar Mon Jan 16, 2012 3:25 pm | |
| Age: 28 Gender: Male Race: Human Backstory - Spoiler:
Rayhon Oldogar was born in the Independantly run city of Theak, to a Lower-class family. Living in what may as well have been the slums of the town in a house that, while far from a shack was only just big enough for the three of them, Rayhon's father found it difficult to find a proper job and so ended up doing whatever paying work was available, within reason, his mother had to stay and tend to Rayhon and the house, rodents constantly got into their home and catching then killing them, combined with cleaning out their nests and whatever wastes they left behind in order to keep the house relatively disease-free was nearly a full time job for her. The governors and the majority of the guards of Theak could, and were, seen as corrupt by the citizens, bribes were commonplace and the rich seemed to get away with nearly anything and as the years passed and Rayhon got older, this didn't seem to get any better, the lives of the poor and middle-class gradually got more and more degraded, while those with wealth seemed to only get more powerful.
By age thirteen Rayhon and his family were nearly completely gold-less, jobs became very few and far apart and whilst before they could get by without having to cook and eat the rats that were caught, eventually they had to succumb to the lack of food. It didn't take much longer for large portions of the civilians to start revolting against the corrupt governors, while only small scale vandalisms at first, it quickly errupted into fights between (Poorly) armed and armored citizens and guards. Even despite his parents protests, Rayhon joined in on these rebellions at age fourteen, becoming somewhat of a selfish thug, he grew over-confident in his combat prowess, of which he really had none and during one of the city riots took a vicious sword slice to the face, cutting into both of his eyes. He was returned to the shock and tears of his parents by some friends after the fight, while some of the wounds healed, he had lost the vast majority of his eyesight, becoming very light sensitive, only being barely able to see what was directly infront of him, though his sight was better at night, his already low quality of life was greatly reduced.
However, some years later, at age sixteen Rayhon was suddenly woken up by his father, he heard the distant cheers of a large crowd and with his parents help moved over to the source of the noise, while he could barely see his surroundings, the clouds were blocking direct sunlight so he could just make out that they were in a large open area, and past the crowd he saw some figures standing on a raised platform, after the cheering stopped Rayhon asked some nearby people about what was happening. While the stories from each person was told diffrently and at the same time, he could still understand what was being said. Apparently during last night, a group of warriors had entered the city, immediatly setting off for the governor buidling they fought through the soldiers guarding it, using nothing but their fists and wearing little to no armor, they quickly subdued the governors themselves. These warriors identified themselves as the 'Dorati', Fighter-Monks that believe in "a balance in all things" and had heard of the plight in Theak, though rather late they admitted.
The monks were apparently remaining in the city for a few weeks. But while the corrupt leaders were no longer in power, Rayhon was still nearly blind and his parents wondered if the Dorati had any wisdom to offer on this, perhaps a miracle cure or something along those lines. A few days later, when they could finally speak to the monks, the leader of the group noticed Rayhon's blank, cut eyes and after hearing about what had happened he suggested a method of using the sense of hearing to 'see', Echolocation, something taught to the initiates of the Dorati as a form of meditation, as a way of seeing the world diffrently. Rayhon pleaded with him to help him learn this method, even giving the basics would be appreciated, the monk thought for awhile and agreed to help, the Dorati were recruiting from the newly governed city anyway and they rarely turn down someone in need. For the next couple weeks Rayhon was taught how to determine his surroundings through noise, due to already being blind for awhile his hearing had become alittle better and he learnt the basics quickly.
When it was time for the Dorati to return to their home, Rayhon was given a choice, he could remain in Theak with what he's already learnt and finally have ease in his life, or he could join the monks and leave the city, expanding on what he already knows aswell as learning their ways, the monk who had taught him had said he would recommend Rayhon for initiation, having seen his determination to learn. He wanted to stay and finally live in peace, but he had seen the corruption and evil of some people first hand and he knew he had to help stop it. After saying goodbye to his parents he left with the monks, eventually reaching a large, exotic temple hidden in the mountains near Theak.
Over the next twelve years he studied the way of the Dorati, he came to know the sounds and beauty of nature, regularly meditating in the nearby forests. He learnt about their beliefs aswell as their fighting style, the lessons and wisdom of his teachers lead him to ignore his over-confidence. He also spent his time finding serenity and peace within the world, which he quickly found out took a long time to even understand, despite his sight problems he remained determined. He was given a gift by the other monks, a black blindfold that completely blocked off his eyesight, this stopped his headaches and allowed him to practise echolocation undistracted. He eventually decided to go back into the world after so many years of isolation, with the permission of the Temple-Master he took a small amount of supplies and left, while his matial art skills were far from expert he thought he could fend for himself, his unusual form of 'sight' allowing him to travel nearly as if he could see just fine.
Physical Description Rayhon has black, unkept hair down to the middle of his neck, with a black beard connecting to sideburns and a moustache. He is nearly always wearing his black blindfold aswell as a specially designed curiass, a simple cloth shirt with some leather patches sewn in around the most vulnerable areas, his trousers are similarly designed. His build would be noticed as skinnier then average, but still slightly muscular. Alignment Lawful Good - Rayhon has overcome his selfish attitude. He is determined to right the wrongs of the world, or, at the very least live peacefully, helping out where he can. He has a very calm attitude and voice, due to his meditation and is slow to anger. Skills
0-2 skill points: Novice level 3-5 skill points: Apprentice level 6-8 skill points: Journeyman level 9 skill points: Expert level 10 skill points: Master (Thanks Gambit) - Spoiler:
Dorati martial arts - <{ | | | | | - - - - -}> - Rayhon has spent many years studying and practising this unique fighting style, though he has only gotten so far, this style focuses on concentrating strength into your unarmed strikes, allowing for far more powerful blows. Even after his years of study, his level of training requires him to take a second between each strike to focus his strength, though if allowed to connect, these punches or kicks can do serious damage.
Echolocation - <{ | | | | | | | - - - }> The method of using sound to 'see' your surroundings, Rayhon can pick up vibrations coming off the walls, floor and other objects due to noise coming back to his ears, much like a Cave bat does. if the area is otherwise quiet he can make a quick, loud clicking noise with his mouth. While his hearing is otherwise far better then the average human, his lack of sight is still a crippling disability in some situations, he cannot read or write at all nor can he tell peoples facial expressions, his ability to 'see' also greatly dampens outside 20 or so meters. Rayhon can remove his blindfold, and is able to see fine details of whatever is directly infront of his eyes however this causes great pain and everything else outside the very short range will be a bright blur.
Conventional weapons (Swords, Bows etc) - <{ | | - - - - - - - - }> Having very little experince with anything but using his fists and feet to fight, he cannot use any sort of finesse while wielding any kind of weapon, limited to basic, though aimed swipes.
Magic Ability - <{ - - - - - - - - - - }> Rayhon is aware of the existense of magic, but that's the extent of his knowledge of it. Attributes - Spoiler:
Strength - <{ | | | | | - - - - - }> His strict training and exercise means he can call upon quick, powerful bursts of strength, but his small build means he would probably fail at any task requiring consistent heavy strain.
Agility - <{ | | | | | | - - - - }> His 'stringy' build and training has resulted in above average agility, while his reflexes are lessened slightly by his blindness, he can still make quick movement if enough noise is given off, he can also sprint quite quickly for short amounts of time.
Intelligence - <{ | | | | - - - - - - }> His intellect is limited to the teachings of the Dorati, but he leaves his mind open and is a fast leaner, if the subject is simple.
Endurance/Stamina - <{ | | | | | | - - - - }> Rayhon's meditation and lessons have given him quite a resistance to pain, though he indeed has his limits.
Willpower - <{ | | | | | | | - - - }> Rayhon's strong beliefs and trust in the Dorati's wisdom means his mind is difficult to break, aswell as remaining quite calm is most situations he is tough to trick, with words at least.
Inventory x1 Dorati Curiass - A regular cloth shirt with leather patches sewn in, this allows for some protection aswell as maximum flexiblity x1 Dorati Greeves - Similar design to the curiass x2 Bandage-Fingerless gloves - Cloth wrapped around the hands to protect them from constant wear, while still allowing for unsoftened damage x2 Leather shoes x25 Gold pieces x1 Black blindfold x1 Rucksack Various small amounts of food x1 Water skin DeityTyr - The God of Justice Tyr is the main deity worshipped by the Dorati temple, though the beliefs are not forced on initiates, Rayhon chose to follow in the worship. OOC Note:My character application for the new age, I did make up alot of the stuff in the backstory though I did try to make it fit, if there are any problems with the page at all please tell me. I intend to add a themesong and picture when I can find something that fits.

| His skills are slightly high, but I'd accept him otherwise. What's the worst he could do? | |

| Seems ok, I suppose
But, I don't see why he has to meditate to throw harder punches. Wouldn't it make more sense if he was moderately skilled in unarmed combat all the time, and just meditated each day anyways? | |

| I'd actually prefer if it was like that, but I was worried people might have complained. I'll edit it later with the changes you suggested Psych. | |

| If his meditated strike and unmeditated strike have the same "Skill level" why bother putting two? | |
