Foul smoke choked the skies of our fair Surna today as a warehouse, owned by the Greater Heartlands Crafts Guild, caught ablaze. An accident, drunken workers setting ablaze a stock of whiskey? Petty Vandalism by local delinquents? An Official investigation by the Watch and multiple eye-witness accounts suggest something far sinister.

Many citizens were subjected to a scene of horror as the sound of an explosion came from the Warehouse, followed shortly a wash of flame. But what was initially considered an accident has been discovered to be an act of deliberate intent.

"It is, quite simply," said Vorn Tyrr, Regional Administrator of the Crafts Guild, "A continuation of the violence the Guild has been subjected to these past months. The act was committed by a group of bandits and the very same murderous Goblins that have been endlessly attacking our caravans and maiming our workers."

Numerous eyewitnesses, including one Lucius Kell, a Guild employee, saw a suspicious looking cart burdened by multiple barrels and crewed by motley, grim looking individuals roll into town and into the trade warehouse. Only shortly after did the warehouse catch on fire, and did many witnesses watch as a group of goblins and bandits flee the city.

"Further investigation has revealed that the arson was timed with a break-in of the local Watch-House," said Sergeant Catherine Waylock of the Watch. "The only prisoner held in this building at the time was a Drider, wanted for her suspected affiliations with the Goblin Tribes."

"Originally we had assumed that the attacks on our caravans and employees were motivated out of the infamous goblin blood-lust and barbarity," Mr. Tyrr commented, "But recent information in addition to the apparent motivation of today's arson suggests something deeper."

"The Goblins, primitive as they are, worship the Drider as Gods. Obviously, this Drider, now revealed to be known as 'Shelob', or, as she seems to prefer, 'The Goblin Queen', is manipulating the tribes into conflict with the Guild. With the ill-gotten coin from her raids, she would no doubt have plenty of heartless bandits at her disposal. What she desires cannot be surmised, but what does every bandit want? Money, yes, but power is often a draw. A dark power, over life and death, to inflict pain and misery. And the goblins have granted her God-like power."

The destruction of the warehouse is expected to cause a bit of a disruption in the Surna economy, given it's plethora of trade-goods. The Watch is asking any members of the community with more information regarding the attack to come forward, and the Guild is offering a reward of 1,000 Shillings for the names of bandits in league with the Goblins, in addition to their standing bounty of 90 shillings for every Goblin killed.
