Jurgen Cobbald - Knight of 1

Jurgen Cobbald was born of Occitan decent, said to be from the Blacksteel sons. Of course, this was his great grandparents, and not him. The blood still ran in him, however. He was native to the Nation-state of Ansbach, but his family migrated to the Buchloe when he was three years old. He remembers little about his birth land, if anything at all. He remembers his mother spoon-feeding him sweet honey from flowers in that province, and spoon-feeding is a thing has been regarded as an act of love in his eyes. He grew up impoverished, however, and was required to fend for himself multiple times against bullies. Through that, he gained a natural aptitude for combat and survival. He grew up a street urchin, hoping for the day that someone would save him. That day would eventually come, but it wouldn't be someone else saving him.

What happened to save hm was an ideal that was being cultivated as he watched the Knights of the city do their training. He admired them, and that admiration rubbed off as he soon found himself mimicking their daily trainings with small branches from the trees outside the city. He would spend day after day observing the technique that they practiced, and put it in to practice himself as soon as he believed that he had memorized each step, and every swivel of a muscle. He would spend nights without sleep practicing these swings and skills that made the knights so gloriously appealing to him. His body became toned and tan as he toiled over the hot sun day after day.

Young Jurgen was missing something, however. He did not partake in the daily disciplines that the Knights held, keeping them steady and stalwart. He was immature in those natures that truly made one a knight; and he was oblivious to the fact. He held almost no formal education, only knowing what he learned in the streets and what little his parents told him. Eventually he would find his own training and tutoring, but it would not be until he later years in the Occitan states. When he was eighteen, he enlisted in the local guard force. He swiftly rose through the ranks, showing excellent prowess for battle and policing of the town he lived in. Within a year, he rose to the Captain of the guard after a riot killed the former. His duty term was short lived when a slip of duty took everything away from him.

After the town was razed on his fault, Jurgen went into self exile. He honed his skills along the way, but he never had received proper knighthood rites. He proclaimed himself to be a knight, but he never actually became one. It is still his dream to become one, and it has been years since he's settled down in a single town. He's simply a drifter, moving from town to town and doing virtuous deeds whenever the situation calls for it, as a way to redeem himself.
