Full Name: Elijah Ackerman Race: Human Languages: Common Gender: Male Age: 31 Height: 6'1 Birthplace:A small farm a couple dozen miles north of Surna
Biography:
Spoiler:
Elijah was slow to wake up before he could faintly see something brown enter his vision, a second later it dumped cold water on him. It jolted him awake and as he tried to lean up he noticed that he could not move his arms, legs or anything other then his head, he was strapped down to a slap of rock in a dark room, few candles lit the room. He looked around, frantic at first but he regained his composure after a moment or two, he saw a man in black robes holding a wooden bucket, his hand had a large scar on it but that was all he could notice about the man since his other features were shrouded by the robes. Another...taller man stood next to him, he had no robes and he seemed confident about something. He spoke in a hoarse voice " I bet you are wondering as to why you are here." He did guess correctly but in Elijah's situation who would not wonder as to where they are. Elijah spoke " Y-Yes. " he was scared, the man stood at least 6'5 and his features were sharp like that of a knife...how fitting. He paced around the room and spoke " Well the reason why you are here is to be a sort of test subject, we plan on trying a new experiment on you since you fit out requirements. "
He turned and faced Elijah, his eyes were a dark shade of blue and his eyes were blood shot as if missing countless hours of sleep. Elijah spoke again in a weak tone " What do you mean r-requirements. " The sharply featured man chuckled " Well unbeknownst to you...you have a sort of gift, over the years you have sort of stored and energy in yourself. Its effects are very very hard to pick out but after a year of studying you we determined that you are indeed special and would be perfect for this experiment. Although if you are not then you shall die, but we hope that will not happen. " He chuckled again and the man in the robes also chuckled...so far that was the only sound he had made, Elijah thought he was in some kind of nightmare. Elijah stayed chained to the slab for hours before the tall sharp figure re-entered the room, he smiled a wicked smile " Shall we begin. " two people came out of the shadows from behind him, on a small cart were eight small metal contraptions. Each was circular and had small hooks on the bottom, facing upward for some reason. Elijah shaked as he prayed to some higher being that he could get some help, none will ever come to him. Over the next few hours Elijah has the eight circular contraptions embedded into his skin, the hooks went in just under his last layer of skin and hooked onto it so that if you pull they dig deeper into the skin, so taking them out would require an operation like the one he was now receiving. It was agony for Elijah, he passed out a few timed but it was the pain that awoke him again. The tall figure loomed over head and watched the operation, he smirked as the first four were implanted he spoke again in that hoarse voice " Good, now for the other arm. " Elijah could not believe the amount of pain he was being put through, but after two more agonizing hours of operation it was done. The eight circular contraptions were embedded into his skin almost permanently. The three left the room and a women in black robes entered, she did not seem as joyed as the other three, it seemed that she felt sympathy for Elijah but for some unknown reason she could not help him all she could do was give him food and water and treat his wounds the best she could. It would be months before the wounds fully healed and Elijah could properly move his hands again, and move his arms which the tall man would allow him to do along with walk around the room so long as he was under the watch of the tall man and two other men holding matchlock rifles. One day the tall man entered with the two others that had put the contraptions into his arms, on the cart this time were eight perfectly round runestones, each had a symbol on them and glowed slightly. " Elijah...this might hurt a little. " that was the first time the man had used his name before they put the runestones into the sockets of the contraptions, it hurt but not as much as getting the contraptions implanted. It was like a shock to his heart after a few minutes he became light headed but after an hour or two of having them in he began to feel normal again, the glowing had intensified to a point where it was clearly visible and almost startling. The tall man chuckled and smiled wide, again that wicked smile " Perfect...better then expected. " Elijah shaked a little but he had enough energy to respond " W-What are you so proud of? " He loomed over Elijah and told him " Soon you will be able to control those stones in your arms and with time you could become a force to be reckoned with... doesn't that sound great!? " He was mad insane really but after everything he had been put through Elijah just wanted to go home...to be in his bed...to see his family, he would do anything to get back.
The first trials of the stones which he came to know as runestones were not good...he was having a hard time controlling them as the man with the scar on his hand threw some spells at him, at first he would get hit with the spells as if nothing was there which did not seem to make the tall man very happy, but after a few more trials it seemed like something had fallen into place. The spells still hit but not Elijah, but the air just in front of him, to him it felt like being punched in the chest by his friend Jorg who was known in his village to give some mighty good punches. He coughed a few times as he staggered back...but he was fine, not a hair on his head was singed at first Elijah smiled but then another spell slammed into that invisible barrier and sent him flying back into the wall. He landed with a thud as the tall man walked over and sighed " Well that was a little too powerful of a spell wouldn't you say my dear boy? " Elijah countiued to cough before saying " D-Don't call me boy. " A scoff was heard as if that was some kind of insult to the tall man " Really am I suppose to take that as a threat or as a command. " Elijah looked up to him and with a sort of fire in his eyes " A threat. " The tall mans expression went sour and he snapped his fingers and pointed at Elijah, two men carrying matchlocks ran over and grabbed Elijah's arms. One of the matchlocks was handed to the tall man on order, he put it to Elijah's head and explained as if proud " Do not think for a second that I will not kill you for being an insubordinate brat! " Again that hint of crazy came out in a burst of rage. Months went by...more training, it was a daily routine of training then lunch which was usually some stale bread and water then more training then dinner of the same thing as lunch and then off to his "room" if you could call a small room with some hay on the floor a room. One day the tall man stepped in and smiled " Well my boy its time to go home! " Elijah's eyes lit up, he quickly got up and brushed himself off before the tall man snapped his fingers and two guards came in and put a bag over his head " Sorry...just protocol my boy. "
It felt like days before the carriage stopped, he stepped out and felt the earth beneath his feet for the first time in months and as the bag came off he felt the wind and the sweet smell of the near by river and the apple orchard that his wife tended too. He looked to the small cottage that was his home, his eyes widdend as he did not realize it till now that there was the smell of smoke in the air. He dropped to his knees as the tall man stepped up next to him and patted him on the shoulder " We had to tie up this loose end...sorry my boy but it had to be done for the greater good. " Before him was his house or rather its remnants, the man with the scarred hand stood near it and he could for the first time see some of his features, he could see that he was smirking as it was apparent that he had burned the house down. The tall man instructed two guards to pick him up which they did on queue, he was dragged to a wheat field that Elijah has tended with his son, it was overgrown with weeds and in the middle was a platform...three figures hung from the rafter above. Elijah burst into tears, he could not believe that his life was destroyed...all for the " Greater good my boy. " His hands shook in rage and sadness, the tall men put a hand on his shoulder as Elijah lay in the field in the fetal position crying his heart out " There there my boy...all will be fine, with these distractions gone we can now solely focus on your training. " Again that hint of psychotic tendencies showed its self in this horrid act. \ Elijah had to be dragged back to the carriage before he was bagged again...still he sobbed. A few more weeks passed, they had given him his destruction and protection runestones and after a few more weeks he had become semi proffeciant in using his powers. He never once thought of nothing but revenge, he wanted that tall man to be strung up just like his family. It was an ordinary day...training...eat...more training, but as the two men entered the room to take the eight runestones Elijah had other thoughts. He punched the first man in the face causing the hood the fly back, he kicked the second man causing him to go to the floor. The two guards were quick to act...they raised their matchlocks, but Elijah pointed a hand at them and managed to spray super chilled air just in time, it put out the wicks that would have surely killed him. The man with the scarred hand began to chant, he was obviously casting a large spell and the tall man began to run for the door...it was like clock work. Elijah hit the tall mans legs with the super chilled air causing him to trip, Elijah ran, slid then grabbed him and used him like a shield...he backed up slightly as the guards had their swords out and the man with the scarred hand had a rather nasty looking spell ready. " You fools cant you see that he is going to kill me, put your weapons away! " Elijah was running on pure adrenaline as he backed up and left the room, the tall man fearing for his life pointed him in the direction of the exit. Elijah knew he could not hold him forever...he let go and began to run for the exit. Then at the end of the hall he could see a metal door, he blasted it with the chilled air hoping it could in some way weaken the door, he looked behind himself and saw that the man with the scarred hand had rounded the corner and in the haste he fired a smaller spell at him. Elijah gasped...he turned around and raises his arms, the spell hit and flung his backwards...the door's lock broke as he hit the door with some force. Elijah laid on the floor, on the verge of passing out he saw the tall man loom over him...smiling? "
I am proud of you boy, actually trying to escape and actually making it past the exit. " He kept grinning before an older man stepped up beside him his long frayed beard covered his grin but it was obvious that he was he spoke " You are free young man...go live your life, you have proven that you can no longer be taught by us and you must do it on your own...but in time remember that we will come back for you and your precious skills. " He chuckled just like the tall man before they walked off. Elijah slowly pulled himself up and looked around, he was outside the major city that his own small village lived in the shadow of, a mere five minutes away. And the building was that of the local guard, he was standing outside the door that lead to the prison...was this some kind of sick joke...was he really allowed to leave? He began to walk too the large wooden doors that were open. That hoarse voice boomed across the court yard " You are free my boy...go any place you wish, we shall not stop you. " The tall man stood on the ledge of a small tower over looking the court yard, beside him was the man with the scarred hand...except he was wearing a formal guards attire. Elijah began to walk and the guardsmen of the keep began to come outside and salute him, one guard by the gate had a satchel for him and he noticed that standing beside him was the girl that would treat, feed and give him water.
Elijah was dumbfounded as to what was happening...but he did not want to take chances, he walked to the gate and took the satchel which when he did the guard saluted him and the tall man yelled out " Attention, form up and get back to your duties you slobs! " The guardsmen quickly assembled then dispersed back across the city. Elijah walked for a few hours around the city before he exited the city and saw a man lazily sitting on a open carriage, he had a hat over his eyes and was apparently sleeping. On the side of his carriage read " Normans transport and delivery service. " Elijah walked over and tapped the sleeping Norman on his shoulder, he quickly sprung to life and looked around " O-Oh what can I do ya for!? " Elijah asked him what year it was first off... apparently he had been in the keep for two years, then he asked what is the farthest place that he could be taken. Norman thought " Well...there is a town I know of far south of here you could go to if yer willin' to pay the coin to get there. " Elijah did not think twice and hoped on " Take me there. " Norman nodded and cracked the whip off the side of his two oxen " Alright...Surna it is my man...hope you know it will be a good 100 shillings to get there right? " Elijah looked straight ahead " I don't care, just get me there...please. "
Skill(s):
Runestone manipulation - 4/10 - Elijah has much to learn as to how to control his runestones perfectly, but he is on the right path with practicing everyday and learning about runestones in general. At the current time he could use basic runestones and at best a little higher up, but he would most likely just hurt himself.
Bladed weapons skills - 2/10 - Little to no practice in using bladed weapons Elijah would just hurt himself unless its some kind of farm implement like a hand scythe which he used in the wheat fields back home.
Blunt Weapons - 1/10 - No experience, he would probably just smack himself in the face with a blunt weapon for some odd reason.
Hand to hand - 3/10 - Being in the occasional bar brawl he is use to a fist fight but he does not know anything fancy...just how to punch properly.
Intellegence - 6/10 - He is neither dumb nor smart...he falls into the sort of average category, but in his family he was considered smart since in the area that he lived in there were not many schools so he did not have much of a chance to learn, so picking up new skills could come slowly to him.
Strength - 5/10 - Average strength for a former farmer and due to all the training his muscle mass did not diminished too much although he did loose pretty much all his fat and was damn near close to being only muscle and bones.
Personality: Elijah considers himself to be laid back and an easy person to get along with, he will usually not start a fight but he will help others in a fight if he believes that they do truly need help and not just to use him to overpower someone. He also considers himself quite religious when concerning the amulets around his neck, the Dimmig amulet is a sort of family heirloom so he takes offence if anyone were to mess with it. Concerning the runestones and their holsters on his arms he has no real problem with sharing the story with people.
Alignment: Neutral Good - He wishes to help others, sometimes before helping himself but when taking sides he would rather not have to choose and prefers to stay out of conflict unless its necessary.
Inventory: 8 runestones - 4 protection and 4 destruction which are of ice origign and are only capable of producing severely cold wind in a concentrated "stream" while the protection runestones could take a simple spell with ease *destruction mainly* but getting into the more complex could cause them to shatter, and if hit by a simple spell it would be like getting shot with a Kevlar vest on. The runestones are held in a platinum setting with a small gold inlay, the runestones themselves feed off his own energy but with the gold and platinum the drain is not as drastic if they were not there. He can take the runestones out but it takes some force and it causes him severe pain, so unless he truly needs to he will not take them out. The stones themselves are not actually stone but the base metal is silver while the symbol's that glow a slight blue is gold, it is unknown as to why it glows blue yet. Around the 8 stones are a series of spell tattoos that help bind them together to form one spell rather then them each draining from Elijah's energy as separate forces.

I could not indent so I forgot about spacing between paragraphs.
Kindly create some then, please? I want to read, but it's so hard...
Also this is about to get very pedantic but: I apologise for how annoying I must sound but we wrote the lore with detail so that these things would easy to get right.
The language is Occitanian, not Occitan, and "Weissböden" refers to folk from Weissböde in the Holy Occitanian Empire, dissolved before he was born. It should be "The Nation-State of Weissboede", ideally. Also, those from Weissboede usually take Norwegian or Germanic names, but 'Elijah' doesn't seem to fit according to that.
I do however like the idea of amulets, even if the picture for them is somewhat lacking in terms of looking Occitanian. I'd very much advise against using the Occitanian lore as a springboard.

** Edited - Added paragraphs *do not count the sentences I just went by eye* along with getting rid of the Occitan part but if you see a reference to it the I would probably just advise you to look over it for now. I also changed the gods for the amulets.

I'm not really sure what runes are or how they're supposed to work.
The closest thing to them in olden's lore would be sigillum, the written language of magic. As far as I can tell, his 'rune magic' would be akin to a spell tattoo. Let me read it over.

I think of them as like scrolls that are put onto a stone or other strong material that draws on the energy of the user or some kind of power source, they could do simple things as stated above or things of a more complex nature like high level spells. But they are very costly and could be exceedingly rare. If that is not how they work then I will let Pat correct me.

The runes would be made of precious, magic conducting metals such as silver and gold, and they would have to be connected to Elijah with a series of spell tattoos. But the runes would basically be capable of allowing Elijah to put in different sequences of Sigillum in his arm to access different spells. Right now, he has an arm customized for defense, and an arm customized for offense in the form of a blast of freezing air.
With further use of the tattoos and runes, I would imagine he could discover some new uses out of his current ones, or he could try and invest loooooads of money into making new ones. I like it. I'm willing to accept it. Just try and imply the things I've mentioned in the profile.

But seriously, Elijah for an Occitanian? That would be Sidan at best. It's a biblical name that you would never ever find on anyone of any sort of European descent, and Occitan's naming system is all based off of European culture.
Bad reanimated. Bad bad. Bad.
