Chaelra was born at dusk the 5th of Taraskh, in the Underdark city of Chetyr. She was born in the house of Kilana. She was raised in the Underdark by only her mother, Jhinia Vara; her father left just after Chaelra was conceived. She left the Underdark at age eighteen for exaggerated reasons, just trying to find an excuse to leave and be free. Chaelra has always been lazy, but she had to take the initiative to work and earn money for food, otherwise she would have gone about starving. She took it upon herself to join with a band of hunters, learning the hard work of cleaning up in return for a safe passage to Narvik. Upon reaching Narvik, she searched for work and found a somewhat wealthy man, offering a job for maids. Chaelra ended up working as a maid and nanny, fit for the job for her previous work with the hunters, and for being a kind-hearted person. It was hard to be accepted for the job, but after working for the man a while, she became recognized for being trustable. Over time she bought the appropriate apparel and tools to look more professional, being hired by nobles after gaining a respectable and trusted reputation. She worked as a maid for numerous years, but needed something to spice up her life. She crossed a man who was talented with illusion magic, and she took it upon herself to pay money for lessons. Soon after she became a maid for the man to lighten the payment, and to be constantly taught instead of twice a week.
Ten years had passed and she had learned everything the man had to teach, but as she went to return to her normal life, she became severely depressed. She felt that learning this field of magic would make her more talented, give her more opportunities. Later she began to self-experiment and alter her emotions with illusions, trying to make herself happier in order to remove her depression. Constant use of the magic caused her to become addicted, illusions becoming a strong and needed habit. The illusions toyed with her and began to make her a husk of her former self, removing all emotions as it began to taint her mind with a terrible influence. Gradually she became cold and without a conscience, a psychopath. She felt no remorse in her life, using her understanding of human emotion and empathy so that she could manipulate it. She used her maid job as a disguise, only concerned with greed as she viciously stole from all houses she met. She was under a disguise, using illusions to also cloak her work and make it seem as if she were casually cleaning, while instead she was clearing out houses. Chaelra was later caught, giving up the locations of all her stashes to decrease her time in jail. She went from serving five decades to five years.
She moved onto Cramiche, beginning to once more steal but more discretely. She noticed that she was beginning to gain bounty once more, paying off officials to clear her name. Later she moved to Surna, trying to start a fresh life. She tried to seem normal in Surna, starting a few relations to make her feel apart of the crowd. Friends with the Commander of the Guard, she began to become a bit abusing of her relationship and do things outside the law. She quieted down after Thorn Razel let her invest in his mine, making her a large profit. She left Surna after being there for around two years. She went back to Cramiche to and become wealthy, using her money to invest in expeditions and she also bought shares in some big businesses. With much of her business, she began to use illusions to rip people off and coerce people into terrible deals, rewarding herself with large profits. She was a master of illusions by the time she became very wealthy, starting her own small loaning businesses to drive people into debt with high interest rates. She became known as a noble, but also recognized for her unexplainable talent to drive people into unacceptable deals, choking her reputation just a little.
She came across a few new clients who were certain of a find, but desperately needed funding for their expedition and knew she would probably be the only one willing to supply them with the best items and gear. They did some hard researched so that they may avoid falling under a terrible deal which would severely cut their share of the profit. Upon finding out she was an illusionist, they took drastic measures to have a vampire found to sire her. This would destroy her powers, and would be too extreme for her to figure out who did it, or even suspect she was a target. The men knew this was completely unreasonable and terrible, but felt she deserved it for the lives she hurt, mostly financially. One night she was attacked by surprise, waking up later in a pool of blood. She concluded she was a vampire after losing her abilities, suffering from the sunlight, and feeling the bumps on her neck. A week later she returned to her clients, and in their favor, worked out a fair deal. The men were as much interested in money as she were, forgetting about their wrong doings just days after receiving the necessary funds for their operation. After a month, Chaelra began to process her emotions and feelings once more. Gradually she pulled herself up from the corner of life, her soul and conscience returning to her. Without the influence of her tainted magic, her mind healed itself and returned to normal. She felt better this way.
She felt awful for all her terrible doings, finding ways to repay all those she hurt. She did the best she could, shutting down her loaning businesses, which cancelled all debt. She also gave any of her former clients, that she could find, an amount of money to repay for their terrible contracts. She did her best to fix all her past problems, becoming more reasonable in all her future deals. To confront her hunger, she was able to buy some Kazuth servants outside of Cramiche, freeing them in return that they would be a paid servant, offering blood to Chaelra though. The taste of animal blood is bitter, and her servant's blood grows dull, sometimes she is required to fed on others. She lives a hard life, constantly in secrecy. Knowing that the fact she is a vampire could have her beheaded, she remains very quiet in society. Two centuries of being in Cramiche grew on her, and she finally felt it time to return to Surna. Although she lived there for only two years, it was the only place she made friends, even if they weren't real. Having shares in the Greater Heartlands Guild, she used them as an excuse to travel back to Surna.
Life of Chaelra Vara
Spoiler:
5th of Tarsakh, MoP 459 to 477
Chaelra was born at dusk the 5th of Taraskh, in the Underdark city of Chetyr. She was born in the house of Kilana. Chaelra was raised in the Underdark by only her mother, Jhinia Vara; her father left just after his spouse conceived Chaelra. She was unattended to most of her childhood as her mother tried to provide for the two. She was brought up as an only child, befriended only with her imagination, outlandish dreams and ideas. She was lucky to have her aunt come over at times to babysit her and educate her through the years. Chaelra had a hard time being around her aunt for a while, being as anti-social as she were. Loneliness and utter isolation dried her of her necessary social skills, making it even harder to reasonably develop relationships and obtain friends.
Most people figured her for being shy, but there is a difference between that and anti-social. She never enjoyed anyone's company except for her mother and aunt's. Given someone to talk to, she may communicate and express her true feelings for the person. She'd love to describe the weaknesses and aspects of people that they wished to hide about themselves. She never knew when to stop, and she drove off anyone that became even the slightest bit interested in her. As she grew older, nothing changed about her sociability, though she became very admissible to all teachings and was very educated. Chaelra was still an individual with hopes and dreams, wishing to find any reason to escape. A few upsetting events lead to Chaelra being injured, resulting in her immediately leaving the Underdark. She refused to obey her mother, and after pointlessly arguing for an hour, her mother punched Chaelra, which gave her an exaggerated reason to leave.
9th of Flamerule, MoP 477 to 485
The very first time Chaelra ever took foot on the surface was on the 9th of Flamerule. She was scared for a while, and being exposed to the entirety of the sun convinced her she was being melted. Things look much different when you finally come across a place that you can reach, a place outside a dark underground cavern where you've been sitting in for years. Far below the surface, in the cold, felt like heaven to her that day. Instead, she fronted the warmth of the sun that the common man endured everyday without even acknowledging it. Life, in that short first hour of embracing the heat, felt terrible. Every step caused a bead of sweat to drip down across her pathway. Crying was a heavy urge, but she remained as strong and brave as she ever could.
An hour or so passed and night came, almost like a miracle sweeping across the lands specifically for her. She had gotten a few miles from her constant, though sluggish, walking. She came across a small hunting encampment in her journey. She knew she was escaping, but where to? She was eighteen, free to make her own decisions, but she couldn't handle it all to well. She was a lazy child, not even offering to do work to support her mother in return. Apart of her bad social skills, she found that every individual was a tool, and in this situation she would attempt to continue her laziness and persuade others to do her doings.
In her attempts to persuade the hunters to provide for her, she didn't act at all to obtain their help and services. Dark rings formed around her eyes from mindlessly walking in the heat of the day. She looked like she was on the verge of collapsing before them. The exiled Daefar hunters had compassion and provided her with food, water, and shelter. They helped her return to full strength over the following week, during which she gradually adjusted to the heat and blinding sun. The hunters' compassion had limits, and when she was capable of working, they put her to use. She had no actually skills, and so the only thing she was stationed to do was cleaning up after meals, and cleaning the weapons. The hunters promised her that as they ascended into the north, they would protect her and lead her to one of the cities.
By the time they ever came to Narvik it had became a new year, almost six months gone by. She put some trust and faith into the hunters, learning how to communicate with others more properly during that time. Chaelra departed from her so-called 'friends' and took herself into the depths of the city. She couldn't find herself any work for the first few days, living out of the gutter. Later she came across a man who was in search of a maid, someone willing enough to take a very cheap salary. She didn't hesitate to take the offer, even for a short fee. She was provided a very small dorm, and feed decent food. The living provisions with the man subtracted from her salary, but allowed her to at least live somewhere. She was fit for the job; but after all, she had been cleaning and organizing for the hunters a while.
After straightening up the house and also acting as a nanny to the man's younglings, she turned to give a few other houses a quick cleanup. Her pay wasn't high, but with her living provisions already covered, the extra money allowed her to save up for something special. After a while she had enough money to buy the necessary apparel and tools for cleaning, making her seem more professional, which allowed her to be invited into more noble homes.
Almost a decade had passed and she was still a maid. Twenty-six years old and she moved on to living with much nobler families, tending to the children as well. It took her many years to gain the trust and faith of homeowners to obtain a higher paying job, considering the reputation the Daefar have it proved a difficult task. Chaelra was not like anyone else; she progressed and turned out becoming very persuasive with her social skills. Although she seemed normal, she was also viewed uniquely for her personality. It's not common to come across a nice and kind-hearted Daefar, someone as trustable as Chaelra.
21th of Kythorn, MoP 485 to 495
The 21th of Kythorn, MoP 485: Chaelra had a rare opportunity in Narvik this day. She felt that had never had any skills, unless you count cleaning up and being a motherly figure as one. Singing was something she did quietly to herself as she worked, and whenever caught she'd be recognized for actually having a beautiful voice. Singing was something she did just to keep herself happy during the long days of cleaning up, which soon enough she just came across doing it absentmindedly. In general she felt defenseless, weak, unknowledgeable. Her opportunity came as she met someone, a man who confused her. She knew something was amiss, as if something were altered. That day she was in the market, looking for food to buy when suddenly a man bumped into her and accidentally dropped a bag. A few books spilled out, but what she was concerned about the most was a magic book she picked up for him. By mere glance she could tell that it dealt with such a subject.
Magic was rare to her, and she explained to the man that she could tell something about him, the aura. The man wasn't busy and decided to sit down with her to talk. He told her that she probably wasn't feeling his aura, but the influence of his spell. He was using an illusion to convince everyone of his looks, for he was under a disguise with the spell. She believed it was impossible, looking right at him and believing he was showing his true colors, when supposedly he said he looked entirely different. He went on saying how he was a little pre-occupied, and couldn't control the spell enough to hide its traces. She became so interested, feeling that what he was currently doing was unreal. She inquired and insisted of him to help her, to teach her. Of course teaching someone a very powerful art of magic, who wasn't even trained at all, wouldn't come free.
Chaelra is a saver, very conservative with her money. With this golden opportunity, she didn't care for money and would pay the fee to learn. For the next several months she was paying him lessons, not even learning a single spell, but merely the teaching of what magic was, and what the weave was. After several months of this training, she wasn't going to waste her time anymore. Meeting twice a week didn't help her at all, so she made an agreement with the man, that if he provided lessons and a home, she would do all the work around his house and more: cleaning, cooking, and doing errands. No longer was she a maid, but a pupil, doing hard-work to learn.
Most people don't have the time or patience to learn, nor would pay just to be educated. Learning was a chore, and people were too committed to their jobs to waste time. As a pupil, her master spent a lot of time teaching her. No longer was it twice a week, but constantly. Throughout the day, when she followed him and carried his stuff, he'd be continuously going on about magic. She struggled almost more than any other student at the art of magic. It was such a hard concept for her to grasp at first, but over the next ten years she had developed into a great illusionist. It turns out that her master was not a master at all, but capable of teaching. He was an expert and she had learned almost everything he knew, but she desired to know everything about it. The later end of her training those ten years were mostly book study. Her teacher had shown to her how to comprehend and read a book of illusions so that she could progress independently. Had he given her this book at first, she wouldn't know anything at all, but now that she has progressed and became very experience, she was capable of furthering her knowledge on her own. It was near the end through her years of learning when she had finally seen through the man's disguise, the spell no longer working on her now that she understood it mostly.
After she saw through his disguise, she was scared of seeing him as much. Though she persisted and continued learning until MoP 495. She had a few nightmares about him as well, the man hiding his skinless body. She never questioned him what happened, but most of his skin was missing and showed everything underneath. She assumed he just used the illusion to live a normal life.
MoP 495 to 589
By MoP 495, Chaelra had learned everything the man had to offer. She felt it a pain to break up from her master, study illusions completely in independence. It didn't matter, because any questions she asked could not be answered by the man, for she knew everything he did. She left him and had to find something new to do with her life. She went back to being a maid, but didn't know what to truly do with all those years of learning. Now that she was back to doing what she always did, it felt like there was no point. She felt so powerful but so weak. What was she to do, to be? How was she suppose to feel? She became depressed, no longer having that cheery smile while working. She knew what she was capable of, but didn't know what to do with her life now.
The Art of Illusions is a serious and powerful field of magic and Chaelra didn't know what she was doing when she began to experiment on herself. During the period she was depressed, Chaelra used illusions to make her happy. She was experienced using illusions on others, practicing with her master as she fooled people in the market of the city. This was different, she was innocently toying with her own emotions. Her happiness lasted a while as she continued to override her emotions. Over the next two years she continued to brighten herself up, destroying herself at the same time. Using happiness on herself became a medication, an addiction, something she did up to two times a day. On bad days, she did it anywhere up to ten times a day. MoP 497, Chaelra became a husk of her former, cheerful self. She dove deep into the magic and self-experiment that it drove away her emotions and conscience. Through constant applying of the magic, she had gradually became a psychopath. She also used the illusions to help rid her of her childhood, which she didn't like to remember.
For the next century she made drastic changes to her life. Formerly she was a maid, in which she turned to being a thief and partial murderer. She went under her disguise as maid often, using her illusions to make her thieving indiscernible. An innocent person would merely see Chaelra cleaning as a normal human maid, and by the time she was done, the entire house was halfway cleared out. Her multiple disguises kept her from being noticed. She began doing more serious deeds, stealing everything from shops. She constantly practiced her magic, but never developed. For decades she stole, becoming almost wealthier than nobles. She didn't have feelings or emotions nor any strong motivations. She knew greed played a part in almost everyone's life, so she did everything she could to become wealthy.
Years worth of stealing ended as she was caught and thrown in the jailhouse of Narvik. The accumulated price resulted in her having almost five decades in jail. She knew she was wise enough to break free and escape the city, but she wanted to be cleared of and not have a bounty hanging over her head. The sentence was lessened to five years as she told them the location of ten stashes. It appeared that she had barely spent a piece of the large fortune. Her honesty and almost full return of the money was a payment to her bail in a sense.
As she was released from jail, she was a little rough with her skills. For the next ten years she spent time to refine them as well as escape Narvik. She trailed along the coast with some merchants, working for them to get a ride. From Narvik, they went to Cramiche, making pit stops during the months of travel. For the next few years she began to do smaller scaled thievings in Cramiche. She began to once more develop a reputation, paying off some officials a portion of her fortune to remove her bounty. She felt Cramiche was going to be a repeat of her life at Narvik, moving off across the mountains to start a new life. She planned on getting rich, but being much more discrete in her tactics.
11th of Alturiak, 589
Upon reaching the city known as Surna on the 11th of Alturiak, 589, she began to make some friends. She felt no remorse in her life, using her understanding of human emotion and empathy so that she could manipulate it. She wiped her face of the cold and serious expression she always showed. Although a psychopath, she continued experimenting with illusions on herself. Chaelra, also known as Silthia Piral, returned to being lazy as she formerly was. Being a maid was the first time she had to work hard, knowing that at the end of the day, her work determined whether or not there was food on the table for herself. Her first victim was Kale, using him as a slave to do all her lazy work. Later she developed a false relationship with him to try and cast off a normal demeanor. She began to progress with her new relationships, a man named Kain allowing her to use his room. Later on she went to live with the Commander of the Surna Guard, Thorn Razel. Which she also lived along with an odd drider named Shelob. She also met a man named Zayl Rathman, friend to Thorn. The best friend she made was Mirage, seeing her around Zayl for a while. She hoped to establish a friendship and use her powers for any of her devious plots.
In some way, both Thorn and Zayl had disturbed and aggravated her. For a long time she plotted ways to kill them, not regretting the ideas. She made multiple, discrete attempts which obviously failed. Only a few times she had attempted it infront of them, but faced small punishments. It was through Thorn that she obtained some wealth, investing in a mine. She knows he gave her such a high amount of money just to merely keep her quiet, which she contently did.
Two Centuries
Spoiler:
MoP 590to 685
A year after becoming a bit wealthy, with the help of Thorn Razel, Chaelra left Surna and began to visit other cities. She started off low, but over the following decades she turned her wealth into a fortune. She invested in many expeditions, using her magic to convince people to accept some unfair deals. A few of the funded expeditions came out finding some rare artifacts, in which she accepted half the profit for. Many expeditions were failures, but the ones that were a success defiantly made up for it. Chaelra also bought shares in some trading companies, much of her money going to the smiths that would supply the local military. Her investments also helped a few new guilds arise in the East, others turning out to be a waste of her money. Her illusions played a big part in all her deals, her major progression and independent study rising her skill almost to the rank of a master. She soullessly coerced people into making ridiculous and outlandish deals that brought her a fortune in the end. From her investments and shareholding, she also helped establish a few, small loan business, driving people with debts to pay large interest amounts.
MoP 685 to 790
Over in Cramiche, Chaelra became known as a noble, but also recognized for her unexplainable talent to drive people into unacceptable deals. A few of her shares were lost as companies broke off or became bankrupt. In the year of MoP 685, Chaelra was about to accept a few new clients who desperately needed her investments for their expeditions into multiple caves. They had high hopes and were suspicious of the locations, but didn't have all the necessary supplies to carry through. They knew she would possibly be one of the only people willing to invest a lot into them, but were also aware of her talent. They did some deep research on her, and in the process found out that she was good with illusions.
From all her deals, finding out that she ripped many people off, the clients concluded that she probably deserved what was about to take action. In order to still get her investments without being coerced, they managed to get in contact with a vampire. They knew the actions they were about to take were completely extreme and unreasonable, but that was the perfect disguise. They plotted to have Chaelra sired to prevent her from tricking them, knowing it was a risk because she could possibly be killed. At the same time, she would never figure that anyone planned for her to be attacked, considering it was once again too extreme. Even if wealthy, Chaelra has never had any problems, therefore she has never hired any guards or such. During the night, while writing in her journal, she heard the window open in her other room. She assumed it was just her servant, until a masked figure approached her in her own home. Even as a master, her magic had no effects on the completely resistant being. Chaelra has never learned anything about fighting and has always been without experience, unable to defend herself from the cold and dark figure.
She laid in her own bedroom for a full day, before waking up to the overwhelming smell of blood which was split across the floor. She laid in a pool, some of it dried up by then. She felt so terrible, wearily standing up to examine her lighter skin. She wasn't too disturbed by all the blood due to her psychological nature, but she did question why her magic didn't work accordingly. It hadn't dawned on her yet what had truly happened, until she came across two imprints in her neck and noticed she couldn't use her magic at all. She was on here way to explain to the authorities that her house was broken into and that she was attacked, but upon setting foot outside, the sun felt like a giant ball of fire burning skin from her body. It felt like the day she finally reached the surface all over again, except she couldn't bear it this time.
Finally, when her hunger became an undeniable urge, she had taken her servant and feed off him. Luckily he still lived, just to serve as a meal another day. She couldn't believe it, the thought that she had become one of the things she hated the most. From her experience in Surna, she always had problems with the drider named Shelob. She didn't want to be used as a tool to the woman's appetite, but now she was a monster herself. It took her two weeks to recuperate from the tragic experience, enough to just shyly get back on work. When she came across her clients she had no clue about what they had done. She went on to discuss the percent of profit she would make off the expedition, but had no form of convincing them to follow into her deal other than using her dull tongue. Her persuasive ability has always been ripped off her illusions, but in this moment her mind was still focused on money and she accepted the profit at a reasonable amount.
A month has passed and she had to take another vacation from work again, being under some odd influence. She had an odd feeling come under her, as if something were wrong with the world. She felt sad about her life, something she hasn't experienced ever since she dove into the Art of Illusions. Tears were on the verge of pouring out her eyes, and she felt terrible enough to end her life. She was no longer under the influence of her self-experimental mood changing, and could once again process normally. She could still remember the things she did and the people's lives she destroy with her greed. The only thing that didn't return to her was the memories of her childhood, only to possibly be opened with something familiar that would trigger it.
The air was no longer thick around her, and she felt lightened from the terrible influence placed upon her before. She felt defenseless, but happier without the magic. Of course she felt bad about the past, and being a monster. For the numerous following years she lived a quiet life of secrecy, wearing a veil or only doing business on dark and rainy days. Over time she learned to adjust to the sunlight and stay out longer in the exposure of the sun. Her obsidian skin was only lightened a little, and her eyes remained the same. The only problem she had was hiding her fangs. As she returned to her more kind-hearted state, she released many people from their debts in her banking business, and discarded the loan offices. Any former clients she came across, she tried to pay back for making unreasonably high profit claims.
For the following century she continued with her investments and shareholding, being more fair in the process though. Cramiche felt dull to her, having an urge to go back to the city where she had actually made some friends, even if they weren't real. She knew none of them would be alive, at least loosening her on the decision to go. Being a somewhat large investor in the Greater Heartlands Guild, this gave her a reason to return to the city once more after such a long time.
Tactics & Hunger
Chaelra has no experience at all in direct combat. She has rarely be confronted in her life, and if so she would use her illusions to merely confuse her opponent. Although female Daefar are mostly bigger and stronger than males, Chaelra has always been weak and small. Due to her size and strength, she is completely incapable of any form of combat. If her hunger ever kicked in and she weren't able to control herself, that would be an entirely different story. She would probably claw someone's eyes out just to disable them, then proceed to gash their body with her nails. Her servants are a source of food for her, otherwise she tries to use her abilities to coerce someone into letting her fed off them. Her only weapon is her tongue, having to toy with people's emotions to get what she needs from time to time.
Personality
Chaelra is a changed person, ever since she became a vampire and lost her powers. She doesn't regret losing her powers, finally at ease from the terrible influence it had over her, taking her emotions and conscience hostage. She is a forgiving person, although people always figure her for worse due to being a Daefar. Unlike before, Chaelra has a soul, a compassionate one at least. Feeding her hunger is just apart of her nature, and she accepts that. She does get over it, but at first regrets harming people when she becomes a little lost in the hunger. The negative side to this is that she utterly can't stand the awful taste of animal blood. She is bound to a life of secrecy and fear, having to feed off society without society knowing. Being a noble as she is, this makes it even harder on her to keep her reputation good. Chaelra use to be aggressively greedy, but does not care too much about her possessions, but either way is content with life.
Alignment True Neutral
Hobbies Writing
One of Chaelra's biggest hobbies is writing. Aside from doing minor forms of poetry and stories, she mostly writes in her journal. It isn't a daily habit, but she does write once or twice a week. Financial reports and business is separate from the personal feelings and ideas she expresses within her journal.
Collecting
Chaelra takes interest in collecting necklaces, from expensive jewelery to ones that children may wear. She doesn't have a large collection, but she buys anything that contains a reddish color and looks unique. Any exotic forms of jewelery peaks her curiosity, but her collecting isn't an overly serious hobby. She only hopes that her collection may grow gradually over the years.
Bird Watching
Occasionally she takes interest in watching birds. She has a small book outlining the numerous types of birds, but it isn't her most serious hobby. Sometimes in fear of walking out in the sun, she would watch birds nearby from her shaded balcony.
Skills
Stealth
Spoiler:
Chaelra has much experience in being stealthy, her only tool to survival. Multiple times has she been creeping about at night, on the border of being caught. This skill doesn't play a role in catching people off guard to feast upon, mostly due to lacking experience in combat, so she relies on it most for spying or trying to go off at night without being caught.

I planned on bringing over Silthia, her vampirism resetting everything. I didn't want to leave skills completely blank, so I filled it in with something necessary at least. Also, this is almost completely re-written, the first time I made Silthia I left her back story a little too vague and didn't fill in all the gaps. I just didn't want to let this character go, so I made a fresh start with her sorta to try and bring her over. Also, I got tired of being a jerk 24/7 on her, so I removed her psychomania and made her normal, so don't be surprised when she isn't acting like a b-..bitter person.
And I got a little into detailing her backstory, felt bad for leaving it vague before. It probably reads like a story more than an information sheet. So you may see why I might have a few mistakes, because after making that I got a little lazy.
