The Densaranda, People of the Trees Empty
PostSubject: The Densaranda, People of the Trees   The Densaranda, People of the Trees Icon_minitimeFri Nov 20, 2009 10:37 pm

Well, I'm back Olden, it's been a while, I know, but I'm here with some goodies for you to enjoy, I'll start it off with a race, since I just love you guys so much.

Summary:The Densaranda, a race of small lizard like humanoids that stand from 3 to 5 feet tall. They are a race of highly spiritual beings with a strong belife in the spirits of plants, bringing them very high reverence for nature, and a very high connection to it, leading the most powerful of their magic-users to have bodies so hihgly in tune with nature that plants seem to grow from their body, and in some cases replace their body parts. They live in a tribal society, ruled by a councle of Druids, larger societies lead by arch-Druids, Druids of so much power they are told to be able to grow a forest from a single seed in a matter of days.

Physical Appearence and Behaviors: The Densaranda are a race of small lizard folk of slight build. They had soft and thin skin like scales that are generaly differant shades of green, mostly bright shades, but dark and even brown scaled Densaranda have been reported, although they are very rare and the disorder is concidered a sign of great potential. They stand around 4ft. on average, but it is quite common to see the, as short as 3ft, or as tall as 5ft, yet this is much less common. They have a very slight body structure, having little muscle or bone mass, instead using their long prehensile tail, quick reflexes and highly developed brains to evade and outsmart their foes. They are born with three fingers, one thumb on the side, much like a humans, and two upper fingers longer than the first, after reaching sexal maturity they grow a third finger on the end of their hand, one of the few ways for an outsider to tell an adult from a child, since they grow to their full size at around the age of 6, reach sexual maturity at 18, and reach their elder years at around 60, the Densaranda live for around the same ammount of time as a human. Other interesting traits of the Densaranda are their frills, which can grow on virtualy any part of their body and in any size and frequency (which are commonly used to distinguish families) and the long prehensile tail, which grows up to half the size of the rest of the Densaranda's body length. Densaranda also reproduce like a reptile, giving them no external genetalia, a total lack of physical distinction between sexes and removes any chances of breeding with any non-reptilian races (although half-breeds will normaly die of certain birth defects early in life, making cross-breeds very rare. Oh, and they lay eggs, pregnant lizards would just be wierd.

Society and Religion: The society of the Densaranda is a very odd one to the civilized races of the land, instead of pushing for advances in magic, thechnology and territory, Densaranda are very contempt with staying put and trying to bring them selves even closer to nature, which is concidered sacred to them, Densaranda do not praise the gods, nor do they answer to them, instead the worship the spirits of the plantlife around them. Densaranda magic also reflects this, since the highly spiritual society sees nature magic as the only way to become a sacred tree, known as the Suaran'a, all others will be reincarnated until they are chosen to become a Druid. A Druid is a very important part of Densaranda society, they control the political, militairy and religeous aspects of Densaranda society. Farmers are seen as those who wish to become Druids, but lack the magical abilities, making them highly respected individuals, and since they are a vegitarian race, hunters and butchers are unheard of. Warriors are a very minor role, since the Densaranda tend to avoid combat when ever possible, so thier tactics are very reliant on hit on run attacks, and protecting the Druids so they can weave their awesome magics. Densaranda live in houses made out of trees shaped by druid magic to let them live in them, with a sacred grove of Suaran'a in the middle, tended by the village's Druids, lead by an arch-Druid, a god teir spellcaller if the village is large enough. Densaranda find vocal communication very difficult and tend to spit and hiss their words since they have no native vocal language, only a language of hand signs. The Densaranda use only organic plant equipment and clothing, giving them very primitive weapons and very little armor. Forestation is seen as the highest of sins to the Densaranda, making them see most races as barbaric and undesireable.

Densaranda as Players: The Densaranda will rarely leave their forest homes, but when they leave it is either because they where sent to learn and report to their home about outside progression, personal curiosity, or on a personal crusade to change the minds of the other races. These crusades are usaly led by a Druid and his/her apprentices and a small group of warriors and other civilians who wander the realm trying to convince other races to change their ways and teach them of the path of the Druid. Most players will be part of a Crusade.

Well, that's it for now, after I get some feedback I'll change it around, make it easier to read, add stuff, remove other stuff, spell check it and then beg to be accepted.
