Subject: The Turnal Alliance Fri Apr 30, 2010 12:19 am
The Turnal Alliance is a group of nations from the planet Nala. The people of this planet call themselves the Nala'varo, their language's equivalent of "Nalans."
The history of the Nala'var people is one rife with blood and strife; that is, until around one hundred years ago. A General named J'Tar managed to conquer the entire planet Nala, but rather than lead an oppressive regime, he dragged the Nala'varo towards peace. J'Tar's vision was that of a united planet, that would reach towards the stars, and whose strong and proud peoples would earn a place among them.
J'Tar would become a martyr to his cause during the inevitable civil war. However, as years passed, a movement began to spread rapidly, that praised J'Tar for his sacrifice, and wanted "peace everlasting," or "Sta'Et." The Sta'Et movement, over the next century, would eventually become the dominant way of thinking among Nala'varo. Though many opponents remained, the planet was united under a single government.
The Nala'var government is headed by a single Nala'var, Nal'Lun Tet. Beneath him is a parliament, or Ma'Nal'Lun, composed of hundreds of elected officials. The Nal'Lun is more of a figurehead, kept out of tradition.
Appearance:
Spoiler:
Soldiers: Marauder - "Tet'Nal" Weaponry: Projectile-based neutron guns, resonance-swords Guns which fire bullets made of condensed neutrons. Ammunition is extremely heavy, but very effective at piercing armor and shields. Resonance blades emit high-frequency sounds that can cause substances to resonate, making them substantially easier to cut.
Spoiler:
The Tet'Nalo are selected from childhood for strong mental and physical capabilities. They spend their lives in training, being shaped into the perfect weapons of war. While relatively slow-moving, their advanced body armor can take a lot of punishment. Coupled with their sheer strength and will, a Tet'Nal is extremely tough to take down. Marauders must be carried down to a planet by ships to be deployed.
Tet'Nalo can deploy Beacons, or Tet'Opo, which are capable of carry scanning signal deep into areas, allowing for better scanning depth. Tet'Opo can also deploy advanced proton beams, and serve as stationary guns. A few Tet'Opo and some supplies make Tet'Nalo able to put up a base of operations anywhere.
Heavy Soldiers: Shock Trooper - "Vir'Tet" Weaponry: Neutron minigun, High-intensity electropulse cannon, hand-to-hand combat techniques The neutron minigun is a 3,000 RPM projectile-based weapon that fires bullet made of compressed neutrons arranged in a monomolecular-tipped bullet. This weapon is extremely heavy and expensive, and its use is limited to Vir'Teto; even then, few use it. Most Vir'Teto use the lightweight electropulse cannon, which can harm machine and infantry alike with bursts equivalent to two prolonged lightning strikes. Tet'Meko carry battery packs and ammunition for these weapons.
Spoiler:
As if Tet'Nalo weren't strong enough, the Vir'Teto take the best of the Marauders and give them experimental Nala'var Exosuits. Trained extensively in their use, these suited soldiers can perform feats of incredible strength and agility. Vir'Teto jump directly out of ships, propelling themselves towards a planet like meteors. Their suit then engages thrusters to slow them down, and land. This ability gives them a great advantage.
Vir'Teto also employ Drones, or Tet'Meko, incredibly versatile automated units armed with high-tech proton beams, and capable of advanced electronic warfare. A Tet'Mek can analyze and commandeer most forms of alien equipment, provided it lacks ample resistance to hacking.
Machines: Assault Tank - "Vir'Tal"
Spoiler:
Designed for maximum offensive capabilities, the Vir'Tal is versatile, relatively fast (80 mph top speed), and packs a mean punch. On top of twin railguns that fire high-yield, armor-piercing explosive rounds from up to a mile away, it boasts mortar batteries for light artillery barrages, as well as smart missile batteries with a compliment of up to 12 missiles.
------------------------------------------
Stratofighter - "Nal'Sis'Tet"
Spoiler:
Capable of fighting in space or in a planet's atmosphere, these stratofighters are equipped with an array of electronic warfare and defensive equipment. Thick armor, countermeasures, hacking resistance and electronic missile defense are just some of the things these fighters are capable of. However, the bulk of this technology sacrifices offensive capabilities and maneuverability. The fighters are limited to neutron Vulcan Cannons and low-yield fire-and-forget missiles. These fighters are designed to disrupt and disable enemy forces, then go in for the kill.
------------------------------------------
Assault Mech - "Vir'Nal'Mek"
Spoiler:
Few in number but nonetheless devastating, these manned walker-tanks are equipped with massive anti-air capabilities, which include electronic missile defense, and hack-resistant stealth-plated homing missiles invisible to many forms of radar. For dealing with ground forces, the Vir'Nal'Mek sports twin 6,000-rpm neutron miniguns, similar in design to what Vir'Teto use. While extremely effective against aircraft and infantry, Vir'Nal'Meko are susceptible to attacks by artillery and other armored units.
Ships:
Carrier - "Kar'Sis"
By far, the largest ship in the Turnal Alliance Fleet. The Kar'Sis is an aircraft carrier that can deploy entire armies. Its entire mass is devoted to protecting, carrying, and deploying its cargo, so it has very few weapons. Its size also makes it very slow. However, a Kar'Sis is invaluable to have alongside a fleet in a battle, due to its advanced defense technology. Heavy shielding, thick armor, missile defense, remote shielding, and orbital drop-pod capabilities make this the ideal support vessel.
Dimensions: ~ 9000 x 1350 (Apex) x 1800 ft Standard Crew Compliment: 6030 (450 Engineers + Crew, 90 Ship Officers, 5400 Marauders, 90 Shock Troopers) Equipment: 24 Stratofighters, 40 Assault Tanks Top Speed: 3.0e9 m/s (Warp - FTL)
Spoiler:
------------------------------------------
J'Tar Battlecruiser - "J'Tar Vir'Sis"
The J'Tar Battlecruiser is a tough, reliable, and versatile ship. Its hyperdrive is quick and easy to charge, and its power systems are easily modifiable on-the-fly. It's quite maneuverable for its size, but also has its drawbacks. Its main guns, three high-intensity proton beams, are fixed, meaning the entire ship must be turned and aimed properly to fire a successful shot with the main guns. It also has several high-yield homing missile batteries. Its shields are also somewhat weak, easily penetrated by concentrated energy weapon fire. A well-trained crew and a creative commander can make up for this, however.
Dimensions: ~ 2250 x 900 (Apex) x 225 ft Standard Crew Compliment: 2700 (360 Engineers + Crew, 45 Ship Officers, 2250 Marauders, 45 Shock Troopers) Top Speed: 3.0e9 m/s (Warp - FTL)
Spoiler:
------------------------------------------
Defender - "Gal'Sis" The Gal'Sis is arguably the best ship in the Nala'var fleet. Outfitted with their most advanced technology, it boasts powerful shields, and computer-controlled railgun turrets. However, it's large and slow, very difficult to maneuver in comparison to the J'Tar Vir'Sis. It does make the ideal defensive ship, outlasting the enemy when it really counts.
Dimensions: ~ 1125 x 450 (Apex) x 175 ft Standard Crew Compliment: 1350 (225 Engineers + Crew, 45 Ship Officers, 1135 Marauders, 45 Shock Troopers) Top Speed: 3.0e9 m/s (Warp - FTL)
Spoiler:

FLAGSHIP
Tet'Sta - War and Peace
The most advanced ship ever constructed by the Turnal Alliance, the Tet'Sta is the pride of the Nala'var Navy. With powerful shields, maneuverability, versatility, and advanced weapon systems, it is a formidable ship in the right hands. Commanded by Sis'Lun J'Lan, Commander of the Nala'var navy. Unlike other ships in the fleet, the Tet'Sta has roughly 10 thermonuclear warheads and electronic missile defense more sophisticated than anything else in the Nala'var's navy.
The Tet'Sta boasts auto-targeting proton beam turrets, homing missiles, and an experimental weapon known only as the "Mor'Sis". Firing this weapon disables the ship completely for ten full minutes, but it is quite powerful.
Dimensions: ~ 4500 x 1800 (Apex) x 450 ft Standard Crew Compliment: 5400 (720 Engineers + Crew, 45 Ship Officers, 4500 Marauders, 90 Shock Troopers) Top Speed: 3.0e10 m/s (Warp - FTL)
