::> FEDERATION OF INDEPENDENT SYSTEMS <::
The Federation of Independent Systems (or F.I.S) is a collective of alliances and war parties from all across the galaxy, coming together in times of need to keep peace within the outer reaches of cold, vast space. They are militarily minded, and train their troops mainly from Human garrisons when the call of war is close. Their ships are blocky, advanced (for their race) and rather large, considering the size of their home planet, Paxis-284. They have developed intelligent; but not independent AI. Heroes are picked to be posterboys for the Federation, and inspire the new generations to join the Army to serve their country. The populace live under a constant barrage of propaganda and indoctrination methods can be found almost everywhere. Censorship is so discreet that it is not noticed in normal society, but there are some underground hate groups which oppose the Federation. They do not last long due to the amount of informants everywhere.
The Federation is infamous for it's hatred of the Alien races across the galaxy. They are the heaviest hand, the striking force working on destroying all Xeno civilisation. They are pro-human and terrifying in their wrath. Unconventional weaponry is used against any enemies, without care for the galaxy around them. This makes the Federation hated mostly everywhere.
Spoiler:
Population: Almost no sign of alien life on their planets. Humans are the main source of manpower of the FIS, and so they are slightly xenophobic, racist and biased towards aliens. Strong Influence: Military Popular Issue: Unity/Stability/Corruption Stability: Extremely Strong and reinforced by widespread propaganda, the citizens facing indoctrination in their everyday lives. Personal Freedoms: Low Scandals: Low Foreign Relations: Low

There are many classes of ship in the Navy, going from Spacecraft Carriers to Ship-of-the-Line Battleships, and troop carriers.

Troopers are standard infantry. They are trained for one thing only; fighting. They are brash and violent, typical Humans. They carry standard armour and standard Federation Combat Rifles. They possess light Nanoweave armour, as they are not trusted to live. They are the main cannon fodder, but this does not de-value their worth. They can also be used to hack doors, invade planets, stop an invasion and raid a ship. Raiding a ship, however, is the job of the Marine Corps. The Marines are a heavily trained fighting force much like the SAS. They undergo rigorous exercise to reach their highest fighting potential. Their Nanoweave vests deflect any conventional weaponry and they respond in kind with heavy pulse rifles. They are the shock troops and are meant to do the dirty work when the Troopers cannot.
Heavy Infantry are the trump card of the Federation. They are enhanced with chemicals to make their skin and muscles stronger and more compact. They are almost never deployed, and when they are, terrible destruction follows. Their main aim is the needs of the Federation. They destroy anything in their path without remorse to get what they need. Men with Children or Wives are not allowed into the Heavy Infantry, and this leads to jealous insults from the other factions of the Federation. This is why they are called 'The Gays' across most of the modern galaxy.
Nanoweave and Nanoparticle Armour
Nanomaterials are used for the armour material. Based on nanoparticles within the suit, they are the core component, which become rigid enough to protect the wearer as soon as the kinetic energy threshold is surpassed. This allows for light, fast and quick movement, with all the benefits of an otherwise heavy armour. This means more attention can be drawn to the battle, without worrying about battle wounds or bullets. This does not mean, however, that they are rambos. A commander from the deck of a forward platform, deployed onto the battle's perimeter commands the army with communications directly linked to each and every member of the battle. This allows for quick and fast commands to be sent across comm channels, resulting in quicker performance and quicker decline of the enemy forces.
Troops have many logistics available to them in battle, and each ship can requisition military goods providing it has the experienced personnel to man the apparatus. Because of this, there is usually an abundance of medical equipment on medical ships, and combat equipment on battleships. Men are sometimes known to lead special squads from their company. Likewise, special squads can be requested by ships or planets in need.
Despite the Federation's status on peacekeeping, the troops are not issued with non-lethal rounds. This leads to outer-world species considering them as terrorists. They are generally hated, and because of this, they are known across pirate worlds for being the most ruthless force for fighting crime and piracy across the galaxy.
There are many organisations in the FIS. The Navy is the largest because of the need for spaceships. Following this is the Army, which are the second largest. They are the basic fighting force, but are replaced by Marines on high-tech cruisers. The Marines and the Peacekeepers share the third place, with around the same amount of recruits per year. This leads to competition between the two, and it is not friendly. There are higher mortality rates in the Peacekeepers than on most Pirate Worlds.
Wing Commander of the Fleet
The current Wing-Commander of the Fleet is Gen. John C. Abrams, a military-minded Human general, born on the outer colonies of the Federation. He has a near spotless record and is a fairly good tactician. He relies on swarm tactics to win the war, and has only two commands. "Charge, or Retreat. Casualties are good for morale at home. More people'll join." He is a patriot, although corrupt in his ways. His Vice-Commander and Rear-Admiral are currently unfilled positions. AI are in effect.
