Fire Magic:

Devyn has spent a few years practicing fire magic, and training under Lisa Higgins, a master of the elements. He has learned many spells.

Spells:

Fire Serpents

Devyn has, with fire manipulation and generation magic, created his own spell. Fire Serpents. It allows him to produce serpents of varying number, length, and heat with fire. He can surround his enemies with the serpents or entwine them in the serpents, thought they could escape, they would feel a physical pressure from the serpents as if they were living.

Fireball

Devyn has trained with the most basic fire spell, fireball, loosely. He has not found it very useful to himself but has been taught that it is the benchmark for any fire spell and will improve his ability to control and generate flames. So he practices it often.

Flamewall

Devyn uses another, rather chaotic and dangerous fire spell that he created. He shoots up flames from the ground and maintains them wherever he likes. Typically between him and a threat. It's dangerous because it's hard to control and he doesn't have much practice with it. He could potentially burn himself or others by accident with the flames, or burn something down.

Healing Magic:

Devyn learned healing magic from his father, loosely, he did studying with other healers though. Recently he has lost interest in healing and instead gone to fire magic, because of his lack of practice or study, he has lost a lot of skill with it.

I guess I'll accept this, might wait for further opinions. The time-skip sort of bugs me. I hate it when people do that because everything always seems... "out of tune", so to speak. Children grow into their 20's while their parents stay the same, ripe young age, to give an example that has, in fact, happened before..

Also. Might I ask why his eyes are reddish? He an albino or something?

Exactly why I have/had conflicting feelings about this. Mainly the power level.

His eyes are red-ish because they are effected by the magic he uses. It was better explained in his old page, also his parents are dead (they didn't used to be but his father recently died) and the time skip is by one year. I skipped a year because of my absence, and Devyn being an older age would allow me to better include him in the RP and better RP him as a character. I wish I had of made him that old in the beginning.

I'm slightly offended to have my "pyromaniac elf" compared to Drakeson. I don't actually know Drakeson, neither seem him in action, but I know he was a huge powergamer. If you have anything else more useful to say, or if that was a way of denying it but you're beating around the bush, please clarify.

I feel his Serpent skill is a bit high, seeing what it's possible to do with it; also, if he's going to have healing magic, that should have its own skill bar, as opposed to sticking it in intelligence. As muc as I wish I could, I can't use brainpower to heal people. Also, when you say, "many spells", do you mean that he only knows those spells in fire magic? Or is there some implied spells there as well?

Regarding this character, I guess it's fine, except that I'm hesitant about the magic skills; the seem a bit high for someone his age. Someone at age 19 would only have been able to use magic for a year or so.

I'll include healing magic momentarily, and as for the skill level, I can bump it down to five or four if you like. As for the Fire Serpents thing, he has the most practice with that specific spell. And there are no implied spells, theres the obvious small things about fire magic, parlour tricks and the likes, but anything combat-worthy is in the app.

Devyn was using magic at a young age before the Sacred Field thing was included, would all that time spent using magic and practicing with magic be void now? I'm unsure.

Yes he's young for an elf.

Anyway, I'd like Flame Serpents down two points, mainly because of the massive amount of versatility with it, but after you fix that, I find this Acceptable.

Two points? That makes his most practiced spell the same as Fireball, one of his least practiced spells, which sorta defeats the purpose.

you fail to realise the damage that snakes made out of flames could cause

not to mention the high degree of cunning needed in both conjuration and fire magic to even make the fire react properly

I'm tired of the avoidance tactics Olden members employ.

Biographies are an important section of a character page, and they take time, which is a good thing. It shows effort and motivation.

Unless a biography with appropriate effort is added, i'm not going to be approving this any time soon.

Already un-sure about the whole 20 years skip forward, and the ret-conning of the whole character's previous escapades.

Age is a huge factor in how people act. Massive, even. 20-30 year old Devyn isn't going to act like 60 year old Devyn at all, let alone 60 year old Devyn with a mastery of fire.

My advice is for you to just create a new character and put Devyn to rest if he wasn't working out as he was.

This large a change doesn't seem necessary, y'know?

I'm going to continue with the change, and a 60 year old elf would act the same as a 16 year old kid, more or less. Also, he doesn't have a mastery of fire. He had fire magic before the change because he's been training with Lisa Higgins for a while.

By mastery of fire I meant a massive fire magic boost or however.

But yeah, I hadn't noticed he was an elf.
