| Something else I will be slowly filling out. Whenever you want to know something about somebody that is DnD-related, you can come right hur. Size and Type - Spoiler:
Size: The size of a character, classified by category. Each category has bonuses and penalties that scale up or down per category increase or decrease. The Attack and AC modifiers change one's chance to hit another person, and avoid being hit. Smaller creatures are favored. Special attack modifiers affect one's ability to grapple, trample, disarm, bullrush, charge, and other things, and favors larger creatures. Hide modifiers affects one's ability to conceal themselves, favoring smaller creatures. How the systems worked will be explained further down. Category

Be mindful of your character's height. If you decide to extend beyond the boundaries of the Medium category, you will notice changes that need to be adhered to. Note that bigger characters take up more space, measured in squares.
Ability Scores - Spoiler:
Ability Scores are the defining attributes of a character. They are: Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Intellect, Wisdom and Charisma.
To understand how much an ability is in terms of 'skill bars,' take the total value of a stat and divide by 20. So, 10 is average, 0 is none, and 20 is a full bar, however, a stat can climb above 20 (but usually not through natural means or starting statistics).
A 10 means no bonuses. Every 2 points above a 10 is a bonus of 1. That Every 1-2 points under 10 is a penalty of 1. So 12 and 13 give a +1 bonus, 14, a +2, 8 a -1, and 2 a -4. So on and so forth.
Below are some explanations as to what each ability does. There may be some terminology you don't understand; don't worry, it will all be explained in the next section.
Strength: Strength affects a lot of things. For starters, it affects your attack bonus, or "chance to hit," which is a chance to make contact with the target, and ALSO pierce the target's armor. Strength also adds (or detracts, if you are exceptionally weak) damage, variable to the ability score. So, if you're strong, expect to hit harder and accomplish more physical harm.
Additionally, it affects the weight one can carry.
Some brief comparisons, shown as 'score', 'light load', 'medium load,' and 'heavy load':
1 ; 3 lb. or less ; 4–6 lb. ; 7–10 lb. 10 ; 33 lb. or less ; 34–66 lb. ; 67–100 lb. 15 ; 66 lb. or less ; 67–133 lb. ; 134–200 lb. 20 ; 133 lb. or less ; 134–266 lb. ; 267–400 lb. 25 ; 266 lb. or less ; 267–533 lb. ; 534–800 lb.
These are for Medium bipedal creatures. A larger bipedal creature can carry more weight depending on its size category, as follows: Large ×2, Huge ×4, Gargantuan ×8, Colossal ×16. A smaller creature can carry less weight depending on its size category, as follows: Small ×3/4, Tiny ×1/2, Diminutive ×1/4, Fine ×1/8.
Quadrupeds can carry heavier loads than characters can. Instead of the multipliers given above, multiply the value corresponding to the creature’s Strength score from Table: Carrying Capacity by the appropriate modifier, as follows: Fine ×1/4, Diminutive ×1/2, Tiny ×3/4, Small ×1, Medium ×1-1/2, Large ×3, Huge ×6, Gargantuan ×12, Colossal ×24.
Lastly, Strength bonuses grant a natural bonus to the skills: Climb, Jump and Swim.
If a creature does not possess any Strength (aka a value of 0), it does not have the capacity to manipulate any object, including itself, through physical means.
Dexterity: Dexterity is another key ability for almost any situation. It affects a wide variety of skills and determines, in a nutshell, how well you can control the movement of your body. Someone with high Dexterity can accurately aim or throw a weapon, can dodge more effectively, and possess better natural physical reflexes (as opposed to trained reflexes gained from experience).
+1/etc modifiers apply to: Certiain (almost all) Reflex saves, Armor Class (all kinds, except flat-footed), ranged attacks, and if the feat Weapon Finesse is on a character, attack bonus for certain melee weapons.
Constitution: This Life stat, the determiner that a creature is an organic being, and not a construct, ghost, undead, etc. If a living being's constitution ever drops to 0, it is dead, no argument. No amount of regular healing will bring them back, as the actual living essence within them is gone.
Intellect: todo
Wisdom: todo
Charisma: todo

| Dungeons and Dragons does not work in a system where we are not using Dungeons and Dragons. Here is your problem, Dungeons and Dragons as a game is NOT BALANCED WHAT SO EVER. The game is not made to be balanced, ok? It's not supposed to be balanced. And this is where our problem lies. D&D works because there is a Dungeon Master regulating what you earn at all times. You're the one running this campaign between the Monster Hunters and there is no third party to regulate how you advance. It just does not work, seriously. Let me show you this, shown to me by Omap to prove my point -- Behold, Pun-Pun. Pun-Pun breaks no rules in D&D and runs purely off the rules, yet he can cast every ability and is the strongest creature in existence? Why? Because no dungeon master is tellign the player that what he is doing is wrong and against the game in which the DM is trying to promote. This is the problem, Kain. Nobody is stopping you from utilizing these insane powers you /can/ get in D&D because you can fucking do anything in D&D. Turning invisible with something as simple as 'Alec Smith turns invisible' - which has happened, is so beyond outrageous. What would you do if a new player came in and applied for such an ability? I'll tell you what you and this community would do, you would lash out at him, criticize him and his character, and downright neglect him. This D&D system is essentially exploiting the rules and is in every sense of the word, CHEATING. This is Olden ROLEPLAY. D&D is not a ROLEPLAY, while ROLEPLAY does happen in D&D. It is a GAME. Not a ROLEPLAY. And this is where you seem to not understand. You can't use D&D rules in a system that is not based on D&D. While I have no power in this community, I'm sure most of the playerbase can agree that this D&D nonsense is only confusing new and veteran players, it's causing problems, and it's only making you, and the rest of the monster hunters exceptionally strong. Let me give you another example. When Arkhauser took on Alec, went to bruise him up a little after he turned into a werewolf- you instantly turned me to a crisp and there was nothing I could do. Werewolves are meant to be some of the more feared creatures in the woodland area. Hell, there was a ward around Surna just to protect the town against such dark beasts, yet when I confronted you.. You didn't even flinch, you had no problem setting me ablaze and getting it over with. Nobody can contend with Alec, and the Monster Hunters less so. Not to mention your party is gaining loot and items that would otherwise require applications. Your entire party has magical gear and the like, with no explanation for how you acquired them. I went one of your trips, I managed to nab a wondrous artifact that could shoot 50MPH gusts of wind whenever I pleased. It's not working, and it's not going to work in this community, I'm sorry. TL;DRThis is not a D&D Community. D&D does not work, please use the system in place like everyone is supposed too. What is going on here is against the rules. And you have quite the audacity to tell members of the community to shut their mouths unless they obey YOUR system. Now that, is the move of one serious cunt. | |
