A little client-side rejig means I can select models without them existing on either the server or . Not sure if it's hacking or not, but eh. Doesn't hurt anyone, but if you don't have it and want it, there's the download. Of course, you don't have to download anything and it doesn't affect the RP at all, but it's only 3MB.

Though you do need to extract them to garrysmod\garrysmod\models\humans.

Should be fixed now. I think. First time I've uploaded a model. Problem was, I checked the materials folder where they SHOULD have been and there was nothing there, so I *assumed* the textures were in the .vtx files. I was wrong - because of an awkward file structure, they were in an entirely different part of the folder.

Don't worry, though - just copy into garrysmod/garrysmod and it should work.

I personally don't want to download it, because I already have a shitload of stuff cramming into the computer as it is. BUT, if I don't download it, you become a giant error sign, so it does, in fact, affect roleplay.

It's clientside. Meaning, you only see a difference if you DL'd it. If you don't, you just see a normal model.

That actually makes sense - it's not a skin of an existing model, it's a new model on its own.

But it's also odd, that shouldn't have happened, it should show as a random female model if so. Hrm. I'll check it out later.

Yeah, Chandra is a giant ERROR to me aswell.

Yes - it's a TnB model, so if you use the TnB pack, it doesn't matter.

I *think* I've fixed it now - if you don't have the model, you should see female_01.

And I find it impossible or very impressive if you made a model clientside. Unless it's a replacement of the female_01.
Otherwise you just can't make it show to some people, and then a normal model to others. If it's a seperate model that is, and not a replacement. Then again, it would still become an error if the replacement was loaded onto the server, if no one had downloaded it.

I do, too, and it's still iffy. Basically, model manipulator can be changed to use models that aren't on the server, which is how I got started, and I'm still trying to make it work. Though I'm pretty sure that it's going to have to be run on the server to work.

You can spoof the server into thinking you are a server-existing model, which it will then show to the clients. But only your own client will see the model you ACTUALLY are.
But not sure how it would manage to show it to all the other clients.

Model A = default model.
Model B = custom model.

Basically, you would say "Oh hey, server, I'm model A" but you tell your client "I'm not really A, I'm B." and the server would go "Okay, everyone, Scalene is currently model A." and all the clients would see model A, while you see model B.

Clients converse via the server, so if you try telling all the other clients that "I'm model B!", it would have to go through the server, and the server would go "Nope. You're A. B doesn't exist. Can't tell the others you're a non-existing model, now can I?"

Same if you try telling the server that you're model B.
"Server. I'm model B now."
"Nope, you're model A because I don't know what the hell model B is."

This is all assuming all the other clients have model B. All except the server.

Yup. Which is the problem I'm trying to overcome.

Oh well, I might figure out something eventually, but I'll leave it for now. Got some other little things I've been testing for Olden.
