The Occitanian military forces are widely regarded as the most disciplined and cold military throughout world history. Fighting actively for the Kaiser and following his will without question, these men are the iron fist of Occitan, and would not hesitate to strangle their own mother if the Kaiser told them to.

An Occitanian recruit is trained in the basic usage of all weapons and basic riding. Force-drafting occurs at the age of 16, and no man is excempt from this unless they have health problems.
The Occitanian recruits are forced to remain in active duty for 2 years at minimum, with the option to continue service for up to 35 years.

The military forces of Occitan are divided into five main divisions.

DIE LEGION
(The legion)
Not one Auslander will be spared, unsere Kaiser!
Occitanian Military Dismounted_feudal_knights_info

The legion is the backbone of infantry for the Occitanian military, and is the main force in both attack and defence. They are mostly used for guarding high-value targets, such as military fortresses and VIP prisons.
The legion are trained in the usage of a heavy shield and a weapon of their choice. Combat equipment include a legionaire shield, weapon of their choice, and heavy legionaire plate armour. There are currently over 75,000 active legionaires watching borders and fortresses, with another 146,000 in unactive duty.

The current high commander of the Occitanian Legion is Brother Dietrich Mitgleiber, Sturmbannführer of die Okzitanischen Order, Bane of Alfred Hook, high commander of Die Legion.

Oath: We swear by the Saints, by the shield and by the sword in our hands; and by the majesty of the Kaiser, which, next to the Saints, should be loved and worshipped by the human race. We, loyal servants of the Occitanian Legion swear to perform with enthusiasm whatever the Kaiser commands, never to desert or dishonour our colours, our company, our legion, or our Kaiser, and we swear not to shrink from death on behalf of the Occitanian Legion.

DIE WÄCHTERMACHT
(The guardforce)
No-one shall pass without You, our Kaiser, at his side!
Occitanian Military Armored_sergeants_info

The guardforce is exactly what the name hints at. The guardsmen of Occitan, tasked with guarding settlements and towns. They are the lesser trained brothers of Occitan, unsuited for fending off another nation's army, but well fit for fending off a larger force of bandits.
The guards are trained in a basic weapon, and a light shield. They wear light armour, such as chain mail and very thick leather armour. There are currently 65,000 active guards, with none in unactive service.

The current high guard captain of the Occitanian Guardsmen is Generaloberst Hans Carste, High Guard Captain of Die Wächtermacht, Bane of Organized Crime.

Oath: We swear by the Saints, by the shield and by the sword in our hands; and by the majesty of the Kaiser, which, next to the Saints, should be loved and worshipped by the human race. We, loyal servants of the Occitanian Wächtermacht swear to perform with enthusiasm whatever the Kaiser commands, never to desert or dishonour our colours, our company, our post, or our Kaiser, and we swear not to shrink from death on behalf of the Occitanian Wächtermacht.

DIE KAVALLERIE
(The cavalry)
Our horses are bringers of death to those who displease You, unsere Kaiser.
Occitanian Military Teutonic_knights_info

The cavalry are the brave mounted troops of Occitan, and are immensely loyal and skilled riders meticulously trained to fight on horseback from an incredibly young age. The horses are likewise, trained and bred to be as fierce and loyal as the men that ride them into war, and plated in spiked blacksteel armor at key joints.

The main majority of the cavalry - the Ritter-brüder (Mounted Knights) focus on crushing through the enemy ranks with lances and maces rather than fight them in open combat. They are trained in the usage of lances, spears, and maces. They wear heavy mail into battle, and never leave horseback unless the horse is killed, or they are knocked off.

The ranged division of the cavalry are usually individual regiments, never really a collective identity. Despite this, the generally accepted name for them is Armbrüste des Windes, literally "crossbows of the wind" but used to mean "ranged cavalry". Every Armbrust aptly carries and is trained in the use of an Occitanian crossbow to near-perfection. They wear mail, lighter than that of the Ritter-bruder, but heavy enough to negate the shot from a normal bow. The armor on their horses is slightly reduced at places to allow for greater mobility.

The cavalry currently has 75,000 men, and are only called upon in times of war. Until then, they remain in the fortresses and the Occitanian capital, simply training.

The current great rider commander of the Occitanian Cavalry is Brother Terrell Amsel, Sturmbannführer of die Okzitanischen Order, Great Rider Commander of Die Kavallerie, Master Arena-Rider of Occitan.

Oath: We swear by the Saints, by the shield and by the sword in our hands; and by the majesty of the Kaiser, which, next to the Saints, should be loved and worshipped by the human race. We, loyal servants of the Occitanian Kavallerie swear to perform with enthusiasm whatever the Kaiser commands, never to desert or dishonour our colours, our company, our steed, or our Kaiser, and we swear not to shrink from death on behalf of the Occitanian Kavallerie.

DIE ARMEE
(The army)
Unsere Kaiser, we are your fist of steel! Command us!
Occitanian Military Dismounted_imperial_knights_info

The army are the elite foot troops of Occitan. They are trained in all forms of combat, and how to fight as a single unit. They are the most feared military unit in all of Occitan, and are only called upon if a major invasion of Occitan takes place, or if Occitan wishes to assault another nation.
The army furthers training with all weapons, and even in the Occitanian martial art "Strassenkampf". Army soldiers wear whatever armour they wish, and bear whatever weapon they want. The statistically favoured weapon for the army is a two-handed warhammer. The army currently has 15,000 unactive soldiers, and is much like the cavalry only called upon in times of war.

The Armee is divided into 3 Kampfgruppen (battle groups), all of which are divided into an unlimited number of Kriegsabteilungen (war companies) which contain roughly 500-1000 men in each. These companies are in turn divided into groups of 5 men, with 1 of the 5 being the acting officer of that specific group. This is always the individual with the highest rank. If all are of equal rank, a non-lethal duel will decide leadership.

The 3 Kampfgruppen are Frederick, Wilhelm, and Theuderic. Often called simply "Kampfgruppen F, W, and T."

Below is a list of Kriegsabteilungen currently active within the Occitanian Armee.

  • 2nd Schwerter des Heiligen
  • 4th Abteilung der Armbrüste
  • 6th Abteilung von Kriegshämmer
  • 8th Abteilung des Verlorenen
  • 10th Abteilung des Brennende Rache
  • 12th Abteilung von Truppen
  • 14th Abteilung von Truppen
  • 16th Abteilung von Truppen
  • 18th Abteilung von Truppen
  • 20th Abteilung von Truppen
  • 22nd Abteilung von Truppen
  • 24th Abteilung von Truppen
  • 26th Abteilung von Truppen
  • 28th Abteilung von Truppen
  • 30th Abteilung von Truppen

The current great commander of the Occitanian army is Brother Wilhelm Bergdorf, Oberführer of die Okzitanischen Order, great commander of Die Armee, saviour of Brother Dietrich Mitgleiber, Swordsarm of the Saints.

Oath: We will become executioners on command, and defend anyone loyal to his Holiness the Kaiser wherever we are in Occitan, Talibar, The Wastes, Sida, or anywhere else in this world, or beyond. We will have no opinion for ourselves, will not complain whether we be in jungles, desert or frozen wastelands, and will wage relentless war secretly against all heretics and Auslanders, no matter what race or distinction. We swear to extirpate them from the face of the world, and continue the hunt in the life after this. We will spare neither age, sex, nor condition. We will hang, cut, waste, boil, crush, flay, strangle, or bury alive. We will tear open women’s wombs and take the baby by the feet to swing their heads against the rocks. We will use the strangulation cord, poison cup, sword or our very own hands. We will write our names in our own blood, and serve under penalty of having my hands cut off, my throat slit ear to ear, my belly opened and burned with sulphur, and my soul tortured by Saints themselves before betraying my oath.

KRIEGSHUND ABTEILUNG
(War dog division)
The dogs of war are restless, unsere Kaiser. They will feast on Auslander blood tonight.
Occitanian Military 2653307-Travel_Picture-Our_German_shepherd_team_Irin_Hof

Krieghund Abteilung is a new division within the Occitanian infantry, and is the only section within the Occitanian military that is staffed by nothing but animals. Dogs to be more exact.
War dogs to be entirely exact.

Krieghund Abteilung literally means "war dog division", and is just what it sounds like. The division of war dogs within Occitan.

War dogs are fitted with blacksteel armour mounted with razor-sharp blades sticking out on almost all sides. This armour protects them from both projectiles and sword blows to the sides and from above.

The war dogs of Occitan are trained to be utterly loyal to their handlers, and will never let anyone lay a hand upon this person.
They are trained to pursue fleeing enemies, and also to eliminate intruders or aggressors. In the event of a pursuit, they are trained to catch the fleeing enemies alive by first catching up, and then proceeding to tear the hamstring
off of the fleeing individual. This is a gruesome, and very effective tactic. And it has proven very useful in hindering escape attempts by prisoners. As for the event of an intruder or aggressor, they are trained to simply go for the throat and not to let go until their handler calls for it.
The war dogs are trained to an excessive amount on how to injure and kill humanoids, yet Occitanian höhle-meisteren (den masters) have perfected the training of these dogs, and they work perfectly as companions and pets to their Order handlers during times of peace or rest.

The Occitanian war dogs are issued handlers from the Occitanian Order. The order handlers use a set of specialised commands to direct their dogs. Below is a list of these commands.

Recht! (Right!) - Makes the dog try to dodge to the right if it is charging a hostile.
Links! (Left!) - Makes the dog try to dodge to the left if it is charging a hostile.
Angriff! (Attack!) - Makes the dog attack any and all aggressors in the area, or simply attack whoever the handler is pointing at.
Suchen! (Search!) - Makes the dog search the area for anything out of the ordinary. This could be someone hiding in the area, or a wounded man buried under a fallen tree.
Achtung!(Aware!) - Puts the dog in a state of awareness, where it is ready to attack at any time.
Bleiben! (Stand down!) - Removes the dog from any awareness that might have been caused. For example by someone unexpectedly entering a room with the handler and the dog in.
Los! (Go!) - Spurs the dog to move faster, or as a substitute for the attack command if the dog has noticed a possible target but is waiting for confirmation from its handler.
