Skill levels aren't based on any particular formula, so they aren't reliable.

I want a CENTRALIZED, standarized system for combat, so drama doesn't happen. The ideal system would make all sorts of powers scripted, and make them all based on a series of triggers. Of course, that is overly complex to implement. So what I suggest is a system that doesn't substitute RP, it would use skill levels, but no hitpoints, or damage in any way.

It could be coupled with gestures so you could have different types of attack, like /claw, /slash, /hack, /smash. Ideally, it would also limit players to ONE move, one reaction. If we get something like that, we would manage to A) Make RP combat something more simple, mainstream, and easier to understand, B) Get a nice script feature for server popularity, C) Get rid of combat whine.

If you want an even simpler system, take a shot every time someone in a fight does an emote. The first one to pass out IRL is the loser.

Determining if someone passed out over the internet isn't simple. They might have gone to the bathroom, or been called away to care for their dying iguana.
