Thalin the Shadow

The bearded man sits down on a chair and places his hands on the table. He sighs heavily, tired after a long day of work. He calls for the waitress, ordering food. The busty waitress nods, smiling at the old man. The withered man smiles back, attracted by her beauty and grace.
The woman disappears into the kitchen and the only person in the visible now is the grumpy bartender. The inn has a reputation of class and is a common spot for nobles, but the only noble there that night was the old man. The waitress comes out with a plate of hot food resting on her hand. She places it in front of the man, her bosom being inches away from his face. She returns once again into the kitchen, leaving him with his food. He thinks about paying her a little extra gold or two for some “special services” while eating.

The man leaves the inn, satisfied after the waitress finally agreed to his demands. His four guards stationed outside the inn move into the regular positions around the noble, two behind him and two in front of him. They begin to walk towards his mansion during that rainy night. The thunder sounds loud, giving the group a moment of light to see around them. The street is empty and quiet except for the sound of rain and the occasional thunder.

Two knives fly out from a side alley, killing two of the guards on the right. They fall hard against the wet ground, splashing against the water. The noble is startled, letting out a scream. The two remaining guards draw their swords, quickly moving the noble forward along the street. The thunder roars, a blurry shadow being seen moving quickly along the houses. The group comes to a halt, the two guards ready to face any threat. An arrow hits one of the guard’s shoulders hard, causing him to drop his sword. A shadow is seen rushing towards the group, a sword held up high. It clashes against the armed guard but not much time passes before he also falls down, his throat slit. The remaining guard gets up, making his way through the street, fleeing for his life. The shadow brings up his bow, firing a single arrow, killing the man instantaneously. The noble lies on the muddy street, whimpering and pleading for his life. The shadow talks with a deep voice.
- Everyday you walk past the beggars and the poor, suffering in their own filth. Look at you now, covered in dirt and mud pleading for your own life. You are pathetic.
The noble gets up on his knees and answers with a stuttering voice.
- Please, I can make you r-rich man. I p-promise!
The thunder roars and the noble falls down on his back, his heart pierced with a dagger.
