A mere few days ago, the daytime quiet of the Crook and Horns inn was interrupted by a man pounding on the door, his hand missing and his genitals mutilated. The sight of the man shocked all onlookers; he was nude and bore extensive wounds. The guard has since begun investigating, but has found no leads. "We thought it might have been a lycanthrope, or some other kind of animal attack," said John Trucher, one of the guards on the scene. "But the slashes on the abdomen were consistent with knife marks." The reason for the guards' initial hypothesis was a large bite mark on the man's shoulder, and another on his neck. "Whoever bit this man wasn't human," Guard Commander David Hallbery commented. "The entry points were round, and went deep, like points. A human tooth isn't shaped like that."
A man named Solus Weathers, self-proclaimed investigator extraordinaire, has taken the case. Of this grisly murder, he had this to say:
"I believe this situation to be none other than the work of a vampire, and one of considerable power at that. The man spoke of a woman several times, a woman who had captivated him with a single gaze. On top of this, bite marks could be found around his upper body with a mouth shape similar to that of a woman. The body was stolen from the crypts the other day, and this will only fuel me farther in my investigations. This vampire, wherever she may be, has not only taken a man's life, but insulted my own work. I will not let her escape the law."
While Mr. Weathers seemed confident, the Guard has already shown signs of giving up. "No witnesses, no evidence, now no body," said an anonymous guard. "This is rapidly turning into another dead-end murder case." Only time will tell if this statement proves true. If you have any information regarding this incident, you are asked to please inform a guard or Solus Weathers. In the meantime, lock your doors and stay safe.
