OLD CHARACTER. REPOSTING UNDER MY NOT DELETED ACCOUNT.
Spoiler:
Full Name: Karen Verena Eytinge Nickname: Kari - Her mother liked to call her that. Age: 27 Height: 5'8" Gender: Female Birthplace: Occitan Skill(s): - Well trained with a sword. - Proficient with hand-to-hand combat. - Strongly built from a hard upbringing.
Biography:
[IC] Having entered the city a little while after her brother, she comes and goes for unknown reasons. As always, more detail is needed via IC questioning.
[OOC] Having no real memory of her early childhood, she only remembers the mother that cared for her - and when the same mother took her and ran from home. She was only six years old at the time, and the decision to leave her father and brother left a long lasting emotional scar.
The mother and child travelled south, across the border of Occitan and into unknown regions. Their trip was hard, but by managing to achieve the sympathy of a wandering group of mercenaries, they were granted food and shelter. This is how they would live for the majority of their lives, in exchange for Karen's service in their company. The mother, with little choice and finding the decision beneficial for her daughter, accepted and Kari was taken in for active 'duty' at age thirteen. She was reluctant and weak at first, but through harsh training, she managed to prove herself to the rough mercenaries after five years of hardship, which her mother had grown to strongly protest before she failed to make it through a cold season, and passed away. Kari did not mourn, as the faith of the mercenaries gave her pride in how she had lived.
They had stopped off at an abandoned trader encampment, where the leader of the mercenaries had chosen to rest. He stepped down from the trailer, and signalled for his company to unload equipment from the travelling carts. First, at his behest, came the armors and swords in a heavy strongbox carried by four heavily built men. Karen was made to open it. Inside was pristine steel armor, stacked fairly neatly against some kind of silk lining inside the strongbox. By the way it was shaped, it was intended to fit a woman. The leader waited until Karen had finished looking the armor over and without warning, stuck a longsword firmly into the ground behind her. She spun around, alarmed to see the weathered mercenary holding a sword of his own.
"I want to give this armor to you, as we have no use for it" he declared, his voice deep and intimidating, "But I must see if you are as much a wolf as it's previous owner."
Karen, with some kind of unnamed feeling of a challenge, took the sword in hand and pulled it confidently from the ground. Wind whipped past her face, causing the flaps on her leather jerkin to slap rhythmically against the tough hide. She assumed her favourite stance that she had been taught, spinning the sword into a readied position. Thankfully, it was quite light, and it was well balanced.
The leader charged suddenly, with no hesitation or fear. He let out a growl as he brought his own broadsword down, and smiled with a degree of amusement as Karen dodged left from the vertical blow and whirled around to deliver a strong vertical cut of her own to his back. The sword struck metal, and glanced off. It didn't even leave a mark on his plate armor. The mercenary quickly struck again, this time being directly blocked by her sword. He had to admit, she had strength. But Karen could not hold, and she pulled back quickly, circling the mercenary before running back and making a quick stab at his chest. The tall man laughed boldy, deflected the blow and the two locked in fierce combat.
To the onlooking men's surprise, the two danced across the field in swift swordplay, the glint of metal flashing as the two blades fought to stop each other. Karen could not hit hard enough, but her speed was remarkable. The leader was tiring, and she knocked his sword skywards with a strong blow. He held on, but spent precious seconds steadying his balance. Karen was already behind him, and she made a frantic roundhouse kick to his lower back, as she had been taught. The man did not fall, but he stumbled forwards, digging his sword into the ground and catching his breath. He managed one word, "Enough...", before turning with a grin painted on his face. "You are much more than the previous wearer. You deserve her armor."
The statement brought assorted reactions, some nodding in approval, and some shaking their head. Either way, Karen planted the blunt sword in the ground and strode towards the strongbox with a sense of victory she had never felt before. She knew her mother would have been proud, and she looked to the sky after she had fitted the armor herself. It was too big for her back then, but she looked fierce with the gold trimmed armor on. With a final nod from the mercenary leader, she turned to the onlooking group and gave the traditional greeting. __________________________________________________
It would be five years later, when at 23, she would break away from this group to settle down in what seemed to be a perfect location. She hailed a trade caravan who were going where she wanted, and offered protection for being able to travel with them. Here, she met her brother - but the two could not recognise each other. Then, after a year - the two realised and after a long period of happiness and telling of their lives, decided they would both make a new life in the town they would eventually arrive at. Leyanara.
Additionally, she disappeared following a brief relationship with what appeared to be a vampire, presumably to resolve the trouble she was in. Neither the cause of her trouble or the identity of the vampire was revealed. Though, rumour has it a female matching her description reappeared a few days ago. The report is questionable, though.
Personality:
Unlike her brother, she takes pride in her calm mood, but she possesses a temper most like Jens'. Her life spent with rough mercenaries, she tends to have a very headstrong mindset and strong will. She always feels a strong sense of family with those close to her, and of course with Jens. She is an incredibly empathetic person, even if she refuses to admit it.
Alignment: Chaotic Good Favored Enemy: Anyone threatening Jens, or innocents. Favored Weapon:'Spitze', the Longsword she earned. Saint: Falk
Current Task(s):
- Help her brother in his various pursuits - Everlasting
Armor Appearance:[She has customised her armor, colouring it and modifying it]
